Which wand for difficult to curl hair

Hair is long, poker straight, not coloured and in good condition. I want something that will give it some curl. Things that don't work:
Babyliss big hair (curl drops out), curl secret (curl drops out and fries the ends), straightener (some success but curl drops out), rollers (same), large curling iron (same). I have a draw full of them

Have had some curls with a GHD wand, but it's tapered so the curls are too tight. Have narrowed next purchase down to www.johnlewis.com/babyliss-soft-waves-wand/p3733340 or www.johnlewis.com/cloud-nine-waving-wand/p1647289

question is the Cloud 9 worth the extra £60!

I also have poker straight hair, difficult to curl hair, though mine is coloured and in shocking condition. I have the the Cloud 9 mini wand (not sure they still make the mini one) and have had really good results with it. Just discovered Redkens' Hot Sets 22, which I spray sections of hair with first and curls actually stay!

Have you tried bendy rollers over night? They’re the only thing that works for me and the curl ended up being gorgeous, not at all thin looking if you know what I mean. It lasted all day and night until I washed it.

Honestly? Cut your hair! It's probably too long and the weight of it is pulling the curls down. My hair is naturally curly and it needs short layers to stop the curls being dragged down.

Babyliss soft waves works for me. I hair spray my hair before curling.

Wands don't achieve more than a kink. Best results I get are from velcro rollers & shockwaves 5. Not a lot of bounce though as holds solid.

I don't want mega curls just not mega straight

@NotTired is your hair coloured?

Give up. Mine's never held a curl or wave and never will without a perm.

I went to a hairdresser famed locally for curling hair and pinning it up so you could take it down just before you went out. Dropped out in a few hours.

I concentrate on keeping it in good condition now instead.

Yes, mine has been highlighted for many years so could have something do with it. I don't get a tight bouncy curl but I'm happy with a loose curl.

If you haven't already watched YouTube tutorials about stopping curled hair from dropping, I recommend you try that. It's unlikely to be down to the tool you're using, but the technique. My hair is similar to yours but I can now get waves/curls that last a couple of days with a cheap wand curler. The trick is products + holding the hair in place while it cools down, then spraying with hairspray before it is brushed out.

I use the Cloud Nine wand and it comes in various thickness. I have very long thick hair and if I don’t set my hair in heated rollers I use this.

My hair is long, thick and pretty heavy. The only curling wand I've been able to have any success with is a Lee Stafford cone shaped curling iron. It gives me amazing curls that stay in for 48 hours. Sorry, I can't give you specifics on the exact name of it.
Just because you have long hair it doesn't mean you can't have curly hair with an appliance.
Like you I have a drawer full, and this cheapy curler is amazing. Smile
