Best High Street conditioners without silicone?

I've just bought some shampoo and conditioner from Boots, called Maui. It's ok, but very hard to get out of the bottle and doesn't smell that great.

I've just started to embrace the no-poo, co-washing thing so would really appreciate any recommendations for silicone-free conditioners. And if they smell lovely, so much the better! Thanks.

I actually use regenepure thickening conditioner https://amzn.to/2Ntz8dx my husband was using it to help with hair fall with the shampoo they do I tried the conditioner and just loved it and now share his Grin...it's sulphate free makes your hair really soft and full

Ultimate blends. For smell I recommend the papaya or the oat one is lovely and soothing. The papaya one reminds me of how lush bath bombs smell Confused
Shea moisture
Maui actually has a drying alcohol in it so not strictly curly girl
As I am co wash is very coconut smelling
Child's farm strawberry and mint conditioner
Yes to range but they're being discontinued
Trepadora
Flora curl

Yes to Carrots Pampering Conditioner
Ultimate Blends (can’t remember which ones buy they very clearly say silicone free on the front of the label).
Faith in Nature- currently using the lemon and tea tree for washing.
Look on Facebook for the Curly Girls UK group. It’s massive- over 15000 people in it. Do lots of searching on there for tips on products.

For no-poo, I like the Superdrug own brand fruity conditioners (2 for 1 at the moment!)

I like to froth it up in a basin first with a little hot water to help it emulsify. That stops it clinging to my hair and allows it to clean my scalp more effectively.

I've just started using "Noughty" products. They are "no poo", not tested on animals and have recyclable packaging. So far, I like them on my curly hair. Not too pricey. Look them up online.

If you are following Curly Girl then the Maui range isn't CG approved but there are loads that are available in supermarkets or boots/Superdrug.

Garnier Ultimate Blends
Sainsbury's Happy Naturals range
Child's Farm
Tesco have SYOSS Big 5 Full Hair which has protein in
Ultimate Blends argan oil mask - good intensive treatment

Superdrug and Boots stock some if the Shea Moisture range but they can be heavy.

If you need a final-wash shampoo then Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo is good.

hammeringinmyhead · 22/09/2018 08:03

Not the Regenepure - there's dimethicone in it! I'm also using Maui but it's not great is it? I'm off the CG wagon at the moment anyway but it just smells a bit weird.

I really rate the Superdrug Extracts coconut conditioner and I'm using a Cantu Deep Treatment mask from Boots.

I've been cowashing with that Superdrug graperfruit one above for three or four months. It's very light which works well for me as my hair is straight and flat and the point of cowashing for me isn't to emphasise curl but to give my hair body and texture.

I had tried a Jason one that was heavy and waxy so it was great to find something that worked. I pop it on in the shower and give it a good scrub, let it sit while I wash myself, then rinse in hot water and have another quick go. It also works if you're washing with acv; it gets rid of the smell and smells nice itself.

It isn't ultra-moisturising and my ends sometimes still look a little frazzled when dry (it's an evolving method for me lol) but it also works to smooth the ends when applied to dry hair, like a serum.

Superdrug products are also cruelty-free.

Big fan of Hask. I normally buy in Superdrug as they have good offers but they also sell it in Boots 😀

OldJoseph · 22/09/2018 18:29

thefirst is cowashing giving your hair some volume? Mine's straight, fine and floppy. I thought I'd had some success with bar shampoo but it seemed to make my scalp itchy.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 22/09/2018 20:53

Well, it's doing something, not sure if I'd use the word volume...

When I wash with shampoo my hair goes very flat and soft, and takes a few days to look better. Styling products can help but it's a fine line, they can also make my hair weighted-down and floppy. Cowashing means my hair is kind of stiffer - ? - but will bend when scrunched.

It took a while to figure out how to work with it this way but it's shorter now and it does seem more sensible than taking loads of time washing out the texture and then styling it back in. For a long time I've been using cornflour and a natural bristle brush to remove excess oils and this is just the next step. It's my hairdresser's idea. Smile

OldJoseph · 22/09/2018 21:08

Thanks, I'll give it a try, nothing to lose.

Ktay · 22/09/2018 21:13

Dr Organic conditioners from Holland and Barrett are great.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 22/09/2018 22:09

Try L’Oreal Elvive Leave in conditioner for split ends/long hair. It’s good.

I found one in Aldi yesterday in a squeezy purple tube - the matching shampoo doesn't have silicone either. I've not used it yet so can't say much about it other than that though.
