It's a nylon type fabric. Emergency purchase for a do. I'm 5ft it's a funny length. I can sew a bit bit I don't want to leave a hem. Wonder web???

Usually you'd take it up from the waist and not touch the hem but I suppose in a pinch wonder web would do. Depends how much you need to take it up.

BettySweaty · 19/09/2018 19:22

Ah....i see...i didn't think of that...im not that talented though!!!!

Would the hot iron melt the nylon?

BettySweaty · 19/09/2018 22:47

Possibly. I think ill have to wear it long otherwise I'm going to make a proper pigs ear of it...

Would higher shoes help?

BettySweaty · 19/09/2018 23:16

I've got heels, it looked just below knee length on the woman on the pic. I'm thinking I'm just short!! (5ft). I've not worn a long dress before, so I guess there's a first for everything Smile

Actually, it is longer than I remember. She's got heels on with it....

Personally I'd take that up. I'm short as well and can't stand anything below my knees.

When do you need it for? Personally I'd wonder web it. If you're worried about the iron being too hot for the fabric put a tea towel over it when you iron it.

Millipedewithherfeetup · 19/09/2018 23:25

It is quite long on the model....I would have a go at wonda Web. Does it have a back slit ? If so, you need to be careful on how much you take it up.

MoltonSilver · 20/09/2018 09:13

Is it jersey? Wondaweb isn't great on stretchy fabrics.

BettySweaty · 20/09/2018 10:27

Yes, I'm thinking now wonder web might not be the answer

When is the do? Take it to a dry cleaners or tailor that does alterations, should only be a few quid, won't take long for them to do it.

hendricksy · 20/09/2018 11:04

Just find a local seamstress Ans get it done properly. It will look rubbish tucked up with wonder web !

Oddcat · 20/09/2018 11:06

I was just going to say get a seamstress to do it . My DD had a nylony/ jersey dress that needed taking up - the seamstress did it while we waited .

BettySweaty · 20/09/2018 11:17

We go friday. Ill have a look see if anyone around locally. Thanks, didn't think of that!!
