Please help me! Jeans + tummy overhang after c-section/weight loss

I need new jeans. I've lost 4 stone (still a way to go though - I'm 5'8" and have gone from 17.5 stone to 13.5 stone) and also had a c-section last year. I now have a fairly prominent 'overhang' on my tummy.

My only pair of jeans left that fit are some new look Yasmin high waist skinny jeans. I like having a high waist as I can tuck everything in but like many jeans now they are quite stretchy and almost like jeggings. It means everything clings.

It's ok when I have a long enough top (see pic one) but a shorter top or one tucked in is simply a no at the moment due to the rounded flabby bit that's so obvious (see pic two).

What's the answer? More expensive jeans with less stretch that can hold everything in a bit tighter? I have other jeans that are almost jeggings and the effect is much more pronounced so I wonder it this would be the best way. Or maybe special knickers? It's frustrating as I find almost all t-shirts are too short really so I'm constantly pulling them down to cover the bulge. Would love to not bother.

Any recommendations very appreciated. I've spent the last 5 years in leggings and bad clothes trying to cover myself up. Would like to change this now my confidence is increasing.

Higher knickers and topshop jamies or jonis

Primark full briefs, stretchy, pack of 3 (black /beige) for £5, brilliant!!

I’m roughly the same height (5’9) and weight (13st8lb) as you and have also lost 3.5st recently. I’ve had 2 sections and have an identical overhang.
I have yet to find a pair of jeans that completely disguise it but the best are the new ASDA 4 way stretch jeans, they are £28 and fit very nicely and hold me in a decent amount.
I tend to rely on Spanx if I really want to create a smoother silhouette.

I can’t see the pouch going away anytime soon so I’m just being more creative about how I disguise it!

I also have this problem post c section. Have you tried Salsa jeans? They seem quite expensive but really are worth it to hold your tummy in and also as a bonus give a nice shape at the back! M&S £15 jeggings were also meantioned on here, the high waist ones look good and better than other jeggings I have tried before.

*mentioned, damn autocorrect

I've had two c-sections and honestly still have the dreaded overhang. I don't really know the answer.

I like Next lift slim and shape jeans. They're about £45. They're high waisted and hold everything in nicely. They do skinny leg, slim and bootcut I think as well so there's a good range.

That being said, I do still tend to wear tops that cover my stomach. I like long tops with skinny jeans and with other tops I'm that short most tend to naturally fall over my belly anyway!

I do tuck my work tops into my skirts and trousers but they tend to be made of material that drapes nicely from the the waist and are a looser style as well.

Any chance it's diastasis recti? SIL had exactly the same shape until she had the muscles repaired.

Tannitot · 19/09/2018 17:58

In my case it is diastasis recti, no amount of exercise or dieting seems to fix it. Currently saving for surgery privately. Did your SIL have the muscles repaired via NHS or private?

MoltonSilver · 19/09/2018 18:53

She paid for it Tannitot. It has made a big difference. She feels that she's back to her prepregnancy self.

Jacketornot · 20/09/2018 12:18

I had no idea it could be diastatis recti! How can I find out? Is seeing the GP a bit OTT? Would a GP nurse be able to tell me? I know they tell you how to feel but I don't really know what I'm feeling and there's enough fat on my stomach to make it difficult to be sure.

My dream is to lose a bit more weight and then have a tummy tuck and lift.

FINALLY!!!! I found a post about this issue!!! I know it's a old post but I don't care.
I'm losing my mind have this fat buldging out of my pants like you do.
It's so annoying and depressing and I can't seem to find a shirt that sits well and covers it enough.
Glad to know I'm not alone though!!

I have suffered with my over hang for years as well and it makes me feel awful. I have never found any jeans that disguise it. The only think that I found is to wear culottes which seems to skim over the tummy. If anyone has any other ideas of ways to hide the tummy, that would be great 👍
