Disneyland paris over Christmas, what to wear?

We're going to dlp over Christmas and we've never been before. I've no clue what to take with us.
Do any experienced mumsnetters have any tips?
I want to be warm and dry but also stylish if possible?

Whatever you'd wear if you were to spend all day for several days outside in Britain in December. Layers, waterproof coat, warm socks and shoes.

cloudtree · 17/09/2018 16:37

Assuming you mean in the evening (since in the daytime you'll be wrapped up like you're off on a skiing holiday!) I would just say smart jeans and a nice top. Disney is very chilled.

Indiemum88 · 17/09/2018 18:19

It was actually both, I'm from the north east of Scotland. So winter's are spent in snowboarding trousers whens its snowing or dubarry boots and skinny jeans when its just freezing and miserable
Not sure if either of those would be appropriate? ConfusedGrin

Last time I went to Disneyland Paris it was freezing.

Dress in something warm and comfortable which won't get in the way on any rides and can easily be stuffed into a backpack if you need to take it off.

SouthWestmom · 17/09/2018 19:14

I'm going in October and despite my love of dressing up and doing make up, I'm not taking any evening clothes.

Jeans and jumper/hoodie/rain coat for daytime, t-shirt and jacket for evening, if we bother going back to get changed.

My clothes tend to be a little bit dressy anyway as I love a sequin....

cloudtree · 17/09/2018 19:16

Both would be suitable OP. We went in December when the DCs were little and they wore ski suits. I would take skinny jeans and winter boots with a warm jacket.

TittyGolightly · 17/09/2018 19:16

Don’t bother with stylish. Wear everything you own.

cloudtree · 17/09/2018 19:16

Theres a lot of waiting around outside

HildaZelda · 17/09/2018 19:48

Not Disneyland but I was in Paris last year in January when it was cold. Skinny jeans, biker boots and parka jacket for me.

Ediemccreedy · 17/09/2018 20:59

I was there during a snow storm in April and it is the coldest place on earth. Waterproof trousers, base layers, knee socks, sheepskin buggy bags... feel cold thinking about it.
Other times I have not noticed it to be the least bit stylish.

CharlieBoo · 17/09/2018 21:12

You will need warm clothes... plenty of layers

hendricksy · 17/09/2018 21:15

I went in January's one year , it was freezing!!! I would wear a nice down coat and a bobble hat with either biker boots or leather Ugg's if I were going now . Layers underneath with skinny jeans a jumper and gloves ..

NotPennysBoat · 17/09/2018 21:17

I've been to DLP many times at different times of year, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone stylish!

Dress for warmth and comfort, add some Minnie Mouse ears and you'll look the bees knees!

ISeeTheLight · 17/09/2018 21:18

Agreed with PP, I went over Christmas, it snowed (which was pretty) and it was absolutely freezing. You stand still in queues quite often and for longish periods - forget about looking stylish and go for warmth. Warm shoes (walking boots type), warm shoes, long sleeved top, sweater, warm and waterproof coat (something like North Face arctic parka). And gloves.

Lordofmyflies · 17/09/2018 21:33

It will be v cold with a bitter wind. I wore thick tights with socks and dubarry boots, cord skirts, under layers, long sleeved tops, jumper and then a parka, gloves and scarf and hat.

Skisunsnow · 17/09/2018 21:38

Echoing everyone else...loads of warm clothes. We went in November a couple of years ago and I have never been as cold as I was there. Not even in Sweden on a skiing holiday in January! If I went again at that time of the year I'd be taking ski wear!

Badtasteflump · 17/09/2018 23:06

Lots of warm layers as everybody says, but my biggest tip is to wear the comfiest, springiest trainers you can find. I love Disneyland but Disney feet are a killer!

frugalkitty · 18/09/2018 09:44

We went in the snow in February and it was freezing!!! Luckily no rain but I took the foldaway ponchos just in case as they tucked in the backpacks and we could have thrown them on if it had rained while we were queuing. Thin thermals to go under normal clothes, you could always pop them off if you're too warm, but definitively layers, and hats and gloves. There's lots of hanging around outside so be prepared for proper cold!!! It was beautiful in the snow though, just very, very chilly!! I wouldn't worry about what you look like, no one dresses up and I didn't pay any attention to how anyone else was dressed. My other advice is to take lots of snacks, lots, as the kids get fed up and hungry in the queues!

AlexanderHamilton · 18/09/2018 09:46

We went one Easter and it was freezing. If you are going in December I'd reccomend snowsuits.

TheMotherChip · 18/09/2018 15:27

We’ve been a few times in November and December and to echo the previous posters it was bloody freezing (which was bizarre as it is south of uk so you would expect it to be somewhat warmer but I’m no Wincy Willis!). However it was often clear blue bright skies so very cheerful despite the cold. Some sort of long puffer coat with hood, plus wool scarf and gloves and warm boots recommended. Even in the most expensive hotel in the evenings nobody looks particularly glamorous. It’s a place where adults wear mickey ears so what do you expect? 😂

nancy75 · 18/09/2018 15:29

We went in April one year & I swear it was the coldest place on Earth!
It’s not a dressy place so just go for warm

WWYDhelpplease · 18/09/2018 18:25

As a frequent visitor you won’t need anything dressy even for restaurants like Inventions.

Thermals, layers and waterproofs. Hats and gloves. Multiple of as if you get wet your outer clothes may not be dry for the next morning.

MrsChollySawcutt · 18/09/2018 18:32

Thermals, it really is bloody freezing there in December. Comfy shoes wit
H two pairs of socks to keep toes warm (trainers are best) and plenty of warm layers including hat, scarf and gloves.

ChateauRouge · 18/09/2018 21:49

Honestly? DLP at Christmas is the coldest I've ever been in my life! We had to keep ducking into the cuddly toy shops just to keep warm Sad
