What would you wear to the Royal Wedding?

Hello fashionistas!

I have been selected to attend the Royal Wedding in October and I am over the moon about it!

I am now frantically scrambling for what to wear!

Since it’s October I feel I should wear something a bit warm, but the forecast is very sunny so that has thrown me off.

I also feel like if I ‘overdress’ I’ll look a bit deluded, like I think I am ACTUALLY a guest as opposed to watching in the grounds...but I also think, when would I ever get a chance to attend a Royal wedding again? Should I just say sod it and wear what I like?

So I am throwing the question to you ladies! What would your outfit of choice be?

Which royal is getting married? How were you selected?

I'm just being nosy here, your response isn't going to help me answer your question! Grin

AceAcer · 17/09/2018 16:29

I'm not sure if you are asking us to advise you or simply asking what we would wear if we were going?

PodgyPeople · 17/09/2018 16:29

A white T-shirt with "Vive la Republic" in big, bold black lettering.

LemonsForEveryone · 17/09/2018 16:30

Nose away! Grin

Princess Eugenie (Harry and Will's cousin) is getting married next month in Windsor castle.

I entered a public ballot and was picked at random so feel incredibly lucky!!!

My God Save The Queen t shirt. Tourists are money, it's a regieme I don't want to be part of and the old lizard needs saving from her grabby extended family.

LemonsForEveryone · 17/09/2018 16:31

Bit of both really Ace!

I'm really asking what people would wear, because I'm hoping some of the choices will inspire me!

MerryMarigold · 17/09/2018 16:32

So basically you'll be attending outside? I'd say a nice coat and wellies.

princessbear80 · 17/09/2018 16:35

I’d definitely dress if I was a full on wedding guest, why not?!

MrsGrindah · 17/09/2018 16:40

Comfy shoes for all that standing and waiting around. Think about how you will travel there and back. Layers and something waterproof. Sorry none of it is glam.

PodgyPeople · 17/09/2018 16:43

This makes me feel really sad. It's like reading something from MN in the medieval times.

You feel lucky because you've been selected to stand about in a freezing cold garden watching on a big screen a wedding of someone you've never met and who wouldn't piss on your if you on fire.

Fucking hell's bollocks.

LemonsForEveryone · 17/09/2018 16:48

Thanks for the help everyone, so lovely of you all to be so kind.

To those people giving the OP a hard time, this is Style and Beauty, not AIBU.
OP, there are always people on MN who want to have a rant where the royal family’s concerned. Just ignore them (as you’re doing!). I don’t have any style ideas though... Perhaps try posting on this thread where they might be a bit friendlier.

Not the right thread for so much negativity! The OP has asked what to wear to a royal wedding, not what people think of it!

OP I think it will a nice event, but you’ll need comfy shoes for standing around. I’d likely wear nice jeans and a top with a smart coat on the top, or a plum coloured dress with black tights and boots and a coat. Assume you’ll have a nice lunch afterwards and a glass of something so you’ll want to look nice!

I’d take a big umbrella and a pair of gloves too just in case

VanillaSugary · 17/09/2018 17:07

Definitely comfy shoes!

Clionba · 17/09/2018 17:09

Are you standing in the courtyard area, or do you get a meal as well?

MoltonSilver · 17/09/2018 17:22

Say sod it and wear what you like!

Redglitter · 17/09/2018 17:26

Some really horrible replies on here. OP isn't asking for people's opinions on the Royal Family. If she's excited about it then it's not at all sad.

OP hope you enjoy the day whatever you wear

user1483390742 · 17/09/2018 17:28

Smiths Queen is Dead tshirt? 😂

Nacreous · 17/09/2018 23:18

I think I’d wear a smart coat with my good brooch, some smartly polished but comfortable shoes or boots, that were waterproof, take a proper long umbrella so it can cope with the wind and then under that I’d wear probably my lovely long sleeved autumnal dress that’s a kind of thin knit in with black leaves on it. Not too hot if it’s warm enough to take the coat off, not so smart I’d look silly but nice enough that I’d be happy being in photos in it.

I’d make my hairdo as wind proof as possible so probably up in a bun.

Obviously I’d be hoping desperately for lovely weather, but I’d rather have a weatherproof outfit planned than be stuck like a drowned/semi frozen rat if the sun decided not to play ball.

Have a wonderful time OP.

bobbinsand · 18/09/2018 06:22

A loo seat

AuntieStella · 18/09/2018 06:30

This is S&B, not chat, AIBU or the Royal Family.

If you can't post here for advice for attire for any occasion then MN really has changed!

I would dress up a bit. Is this a picknicking (outdoor) invitation, or have you got a charity place for the whole thing?

Lamdalipa · 18/09/2018 06:32

I’d dress as though I was going to the races in winter. Good, stout boots, and either long skirt or trousers, and long tweedy coat. Good scarf, very tidy hair and a shooting stick umbrella. It’ll be lovely, have a brilliant day!

AuntieStella · 18/09/2018 06:58

Sorry - I've had more coffee now! But does public ballot = outdoors only?

If so, then you dress as if it were a Buckingham Palace garden party but a bit later in the year. Comfy shoes are a must, had some sort of outer covering n case of inclement weather.

I would probably go for a fairly neutral dress with a statement coat (because I happen to own one)

A tweed suit with lovely boots wouid also be a good choice, or any autumn/winter weight non-officey suit

Layers. Maybe a tea dress, a pretty fitted cardigan and a swinging light Mac with a flamboyant hair piece so you can spot yourself on the tv! Have fun. I have never seen the Queen in real life.
