Bit of a problem with cheap red nailvarnish...

I did my toes with red Boots 17 nail varnish. I don't ever do red on my toes cos it makes me think there's been a nasty accident but since I needed red toes for a one off particular reason (don't ask) i bought the 17 stuff.

Now we're going on holiday tomorrow and I really need to get it back to my normal pink. So I started with the remover and the first two toes now look like they've been dipped in beetroot. All over. It's getting rid of the varnish but just spreading the dye all over. And I've been over them a couple of times and they're still beetrooty.

So NOW what do I do???

Do I really need to sit with my toes in remover? I suppose I could empty the whole bottle into a plastic takeaway dish... And is it the cheapness of the varnish that is the problem...?

Yes agree, if you haven't used a good undercoat the polish will stain because of the pigment. Soak the cotton wool in remover and put it on your nail and press it and leave it for a minute, so that it's in direct contact with the polish, rather than just wiping. May take a bit of time. Wouldn't put your foot in a tray of remover, esp if your skin's in any way sensitive.

Won't have to wear red nail varnish for another six month so will remmber the undercoat next tim.

Good job all the windows are open - house reeks of remover.

Thank you.
the beetrooty one.

I have a feeling that lemon juice is supposed to help whiten your nails so could be worth a try if no joy with remover.

Let me know if it works!!

Haven't got any lemon juice and can't leave the house to get any. We've got malt vinegar though I suspect that might not be similar enough.

It's the skin rather than the nails which are the real problem (I'm not averse to just painting over the scruffy nails as a temporary solution...)
