I need a new wardrobe!

Or rather clothes to fill my wardrobe.

I'm desperately in need of new clothes, I haven't bought clothes in years so everything I own is starting to get faded/ pulled out of shape etc.

I don't have a massive budget, where do people shop? And what sort of clothes are fashionable? I'm in my late 20s so don't want to dress like a teenager, but I also don't want to dress too "old".

Any fashion advice for things that won't date but don't cost a fortune? Help please!

What size and shape are you? What styles do you like?

Dancinggroot · 14/09/2018 16:04

I'm 5 foot 4, size 10-12, and a very obvious pear shape.
At the minute I live in jeans and a t shirt at home, and just above the knee a-line dresses for work.
I'm not a big fan of the slogan t-shirts that are everywhere at the minute, I feel a bit like I'd look like I was trying too hard.

I'd like things I feel comfortable in, but I would like to look good too if that makes sense. Maybe a move away from jeans and a t-shirt all the time

I would go on a big shopping trip to check out what sort of clothes you like.

Are you at that point where you want to move on from looking like a student and look a bit more grown up?

Do you want to look glam or casual?

Dancinggroot · 17/09/2018 20:56

mike I went shopping last weekend but really struggled to find things because I didn't really know what to look at.

nettle yeah I think that's it. At the minute I feel like I look like I don't care I guess. Basic jeans and a plain t-shirt.

I think I'm aiming for sophisticated? Not like a student, but i wouldn't feel comfortable in very glam things. Professional and like an adult but not "mumsy" which I think I sometimes end up like.

If you’re on a budget I’d recommend ASOS. They are really good at showing put together looks on the website.

Because we’re going into winter I’d recommend looking for a good tailored coat, crombie style maybe. Knee length is versatile and looks good with jeans or smarter work clothes.

I’d also advise looking for some nice, thin merino sweaters in plain colours, not patterns, with vests to layer underneath.

Shoes can lift an outfit, so could you look for some chic ankle boots and knee boots? Not mum boots, obviously.
