Hair rut

Throughout my teen years I always had a pixie cut, then grew it out to a short inverted bob... Always had a side-fringe, but I did get a thick full-fringe and I didn't like it - it always went gappy and the wind would blow it everywhere. I used to be a bleach blonde, but now I like to use dark burgundy/purple/red type of dyes and it's so much easier (I use box dye and grew tired of the dark roots that came with the blonde).

I have been attempting to grow my hair out. It is still slightly shorter at the back than the front. Hairdressers say it is quite thick hair - but more thick at the back than the front. I feel I have a large forehead but as I said, really nervous about trying a fringe again.

I'm just wondering what to do. Last haircut was in May, so it's been in a ponytail most of the time. I wanted long hair as I've never had it, but it takes SO MUCH straightening in the morning to look non-bed-heady. I feel I need something easier again. I'm just not used to styling or dealing with longer hair - and I keep finding loads of my hair all over the carpets like a molting dog (never happened when I had a shorter style!).

I will post some pics.... And also some hairstyles I like the look of. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Here is my hair after a lot of hair straightening! ((And a Snapchat filter... But will post one without.... After I came back front he beach, so you can see it in a more natural state))

Here you can see my natural face shape as there is no filter. Hair half-tied back.

And here are some I like... I love the curlier one but my hair isn't naturally curly - more kinky, flicky-upppy, so I would need a wand or some sleep-in curlers?

Anyway... Enough of my posts!

I’d go for a slightly graduated or assymmetric long bob. If your hair is thick at the back, look into getting an undercut to take out some of the thickness.

Here is an old one before I started growing it out again... Sorry! I must look do vain.

Thank you CaseStudy! I quite like the thickness though, I really dislike how my hair seems thinner at the front... Think I have a bald spot on left side at the front, only 22! Blush

I think your hair looks lovely how it is now. Sorry that's not very helpful is it lol

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 13/09/2018 10:40

Sorry, didn’t like the growing out pixie. Your hair looks lovely as it is in the “long” pics.

Adelaidess · 13/09/2018 10:55

Thanks to username and aunt :)

I really don't mind the look of my hair in the longer pics, it's just the amount of fiddling around that it takes to get it to a point I like that puts me off Grin

I definitely like it long. I sympathise with the fiddling it takes. My hair is extremely disobedient. Can you try to work out a slightly more casual "deliberate bed head" / beachy look that is a bit lower maintenance?

I was just looking at some deals on Treatwell, what do you think of a dry-cut? If I go to the salon with freshly washed dry hair, without any styling, they can cut it more naturally/in-line with how it falls? I've always had wet cuts

I've always had wet cuts too but a friend used to swear by dry cuts (she had thick, slightly wave hair and liked angular styles)- you just need to find a hairdresser who specialises in dry cuts I guess. All the ones I go to do wet cuts.

Adelaidess · 13/09/2018 11:40

Thanks ladies, I'll see what I can find dry-cut wise and stick with the length... I think I like the long bob shape where it's longer at the front and naturally graduated at the back.

Could you post a pre-straightened pic ? The beach one is difficult to see properly as it’s mostly tied back.

How about salt spray and leaving it to dry naturally?
