Teenage skin in late 30s!

I keep getting awful skin, spots all over forehead and chin, I think since about Christmas, might be since changed to being on combined pill (10yrs of taking it before and after 2 children with no problems, but changed due to breast cancer risk) to the progesterone only one. Last October. Though don't think it was straight away, have given up eating chocolate and only have occasional sweets/cakes. This did seem to help and get less angry red spots, but my forehead is never clear anymore and have never really had that many spots apart from blackheads on my chin and occasional big red spot
Have got clarins face wash and moisturiser that seemed to help a bit after trying different ones, don't know if is worth all the extra money, Question is that if it is hormonal can I do anything about it (have been on different version of the pill for a month now, don't know how long these things take to change how they affect you?) and is there anything anyone else has used worth trying?

Ugh progesterone only pill aggravated my acne big time. Are you back on a combined pill?

Skin takes 4 weeks to ‘renew’ so it might take that plus a bit longer for your hormones to settle down. If by 3 months you aren’t seeing an improvement you might want to reconsider your pill.

Still progesterone one but noriday instead of desogestrel, just started the beginning of 5th week on it so fingers crossed it might still have time to settle down!

I have the same problem and it's horrible.

Two things that have worked well for me are washing my face with natural goats milk soap (I use a handmade one from a local market) and using Clinique anti blemish gel about twice a week. I still get spots but nowhere near as frequently and they heal up quicker.

Go to your GP - if you've tried everything else and it's not working then they can prescribe stronger creams than you can buy over the counter and then antibiotics if needs be.

OP if you are still on a progesterone only pill I would have a look at other bc options. The mini pill is notorious for aggravating acne and is a common side effect for people who are susceptible to acne.

The combined pill has both hormones progesterone and oestrogen which help to control androgen levels (elevated levels cause acne). The progesterone only pill doesn’t work in same way to control the androgens hence raised levels will cause acne.

Topical meds are unlikely to help.
