Warmest coat, gloves and boots - suggestions needed please!

Hi, just found this forum and looks like the perfect place to ask this question!!

I need to invest in a decent winter coat. I have Raynaud's disease (extremely poor circulation) and also need to invest in good quality boots and gloves. Between my job and my children's sports and dog walking, I am outdoors for prolonged periods 7 days a week, a fair amount of it standing still.

I need your best recommendations please for long and warm coats and best quality waterproof gloves and boots please - am thinking possibly ski brand type things.

I have previously had a North Face metropolis parka but am wondering if the Arctic Parka is better. My brother has a Rabb coat he swears by. Am loving the leather Uggs but they are just not in my price range.

So very grateful for any suggestions, this is a real investment piece for me that I can't really afford but need so it has to be right. Have wasted money on cheaper coats that don't last.

Thanks all!

Mercurial- 66 North also use fur and down in some of their coats. I saw some beautiful but eye-wateringly expensive coats made with down and fox-fur in their store in Reykjavik.

We have some ski mitts from Decathlon, they aren't very bulky but have some sort of thermal lining. We call them supermitts because your hand are hot within 5 minutes of putting them on.

Otherwise it's layers all the way.

Patagonia down parka

700 fill power (that’s proper warm and thick]]
Recycled down
Recycled polyester

You would be hard pushed to find a coat which is warmer, or more ethical than this.

Patagonia kit is superb quality. I have a fleece lined short parka that is about 20 years old, comes out every winter and still looks like new. DH and I have lots of other Patagonia stuff, it’s well worth the investment.

Best socks

Try Celtic Sheepskin who do all sorts of Ugg type boots (but UK made and cheaper) and also brilliant sheepskin gloves and mittens. Like Seasalt they are Cornwall based.

I have a friend with Reynsud’s. She wears sheepskin mittens in the winter.

YY to the Corymoor socks linked by XingMing above. Also Smartwool crew socks.

I have a Northface arctic parka. It is very warm, in fact, most of the time too warm for me! I used to wear it when standing beside freezing football pitches watching DS play and it was fab for that. I find it too warm if I'm walking the dogs. So if you want warmth it is great.

Sheepskin gloves and insoles

I'm also a Raynaud's sufferer, and live in the Alps!

I wear thin silk gloves inside thicker cashmere-lined leather gloves. Silk is very insulating and that extra layer makes all the difference. Silk knit gloves are expensive, but a very worthwhile investment. Mine came from Decathlon.

I am allergic to wool, but not cashmere, son I tend to wear slim cashmere socks, with thicker woollen ski socks over them, with fleece-lined leather boots. Cashmere socks are not cheap but I buy them half price in the sale each spring. Doesn't matter what they look like as they're not visible...

For thermal underwear, again, silk is best. It's washable, doesn't itch and is very insulating. I have a few vests and long-sleeved thermals from Decathlon, John Lewis and even Damart Blush

I’ve just ordered the North Face one.

I’ve been looking for so long, and looked up all the links and suggestions everyone posts on these threads (there have been a few threads lately, all very helpful) and I’ve just not seen anything else quite right (or I can’t quite bring myself to spend £600).

My old NF was great so I thought to hell with it; same again but different colour. I’ve gone for ‘Weimeraner brown’. I’d rather it wasn’t named after a dog, but I can live with that! Grin

Haven't RTFT but I buy sheepskin insoles for all my boots and it really helps. Like these WARMIE Australian Sheepskin Super... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016TLKHK6?ref=yopoppmaswf
