Would Botox work (bad pic incl)

My eyelids have sunk.
I keep reading that botox works for crows feet but suspect it's too late.
I'm early 50's and squinting in the photo.
Any experts out there?

Are you wondering if it will lift your eyebrows?

Botox will certainly soften your crows feet. But you'd need to give us a pic of your forehead and eye to see if you could lift your eyebrow.

Movablefeast · 06/09/2018 09:49

Yes botox in the muscles in the forehead above the eyebrows give them a lift. I have had botox on and off through my 40s and noone noticed (even my DH who is a physician and injects botox for migraines!). Make sure you see a dermatologist or someone with medical training who will do it subtly and prevent an arched fake effect.

Thank you.
I can't post another photo without being recognisable.
I've been having my 11's done for years with the same Dr but he's always suggesting extra things so thought I'd ask here.
Would crows feet or above eyebrows be less obvious?

My dr won’t do crows’ feet and says only laser would work in that area.

championquartz · 06/09/2018 10:19

It depends on your face and eyes. If you have hooded eyelids, having Botox in your forehead runs the risk of dropping your eyebrows further, which you don't want. You can try a little eyebrow lift with Botox, which can raise the tail of the eyebrow a little, but this doesn't make a difference to everybody.

In short, it depends.

I’m 57 soon. When I was 55 I had my first botox. My eyelids lifted beautifully with giving me a more alert open eye and a natural looking arch to my previously straight brows. It only takes a baby dose so the doctor also does the sides of my head which softens my crows feet slightly.

The doctor who did it warned me beforehand it didn’t always work but I decided that for £250 it was worth a try. I wouldn’t be without it now.

I think Botox works best for 11s and crows feet. I'm not a fan of forehead as I think everyone looks more 'natural' (clearly not, with Botox, but ykwim), when there's still some movement and expression. Having said that, I've done plenty of foreheads and they generally look well.

nooddsocksforme · 06/09/2018 12:51

I had Botox twice on my forehead and it made my eyebrows droop. When I finally went to a very good practitioner he wouldn’t do Botox as he said the same thing would happen again. The consultation was free - why don’t you get expert advice .

Delatron · 06/09/2018 16:22

I also had a slight eyebrow droop with Botox, reputable doctor and I have hooded eyes so I think it just didn’t suit me. Got rid of wrinkles but made me look weird!
I had crows feet done too. Lines went/ softened but felt I looked slightly dead behind the eyes! It’s worn off now and I like the look better with my crows feet back. I also worry I was scrunching my upper lids more to compensate and creating more wrinkles.

I’ve tried lasers too.

Have a thorough consultation but I don’t think Botox looks good on everyone.

QueenoftheNights · 06/09/2018 17:14

You are looking at this all wrongly.

You need to go to an expert and ask THEM what would work.

I had a tiny bit of filler a few years back (it's worn off now) and i went along to an expert, very pricey, and asked what could be done (I didn't mention a budget) and was surprised at how low key it was.

I think you need fillers not Botox, personally.

UserHistory · 06/09/2018 17:25

I also think fillers are what’s needed. Or an eye lift.

Ime Botox is more preventative, and you perhaps should have had it from 30 on your laugh lines.

The thing is though, laugh lines are just that... a witness to your GSOH!

The eleven frown lines are more grumpy looking, and are best treating with Botox from the 30s.

I’d embrace the crows’ feet, and change from any high shine eye shadows to matte ones.

How are your lips and smile lines?
You could maybe think of a bit of filler there, and take the attention away from your eyes.
Or try microblading your brows for a more defined look?

Birdsgottafly · 06/09/2018 17:34

I agree that you need a consultation.

There are lots of skin tightening treatments now. One that I've seen work well around the eyes is Fibroblast.

QueenoftheNights · 06/09/2018 17:59

There is also dermaroller and various other skin tightening treatments but to be honest if it's upper eyelid droop you may as well bite the bullet and have surgery- anything else will need re-doing every few months so the cost will add up.

shhhyou · 06/09/2018 18:52

Thanks so much for the replies, I'm listening to you all.

Botox works brilliantly in my 11's but as user says it's to avoid looking grumpy rather than younger.
I was hoping there'd be an easy solution to sagging upper lids/ dropping brow.

I have an appointment with the Dr in a few weeks so will discuss options then. I really don't want to look as if I've had work done and would hate my brows to drop more so maybe I'll embrace the laugher lines.

Have chosen this pic at random but if you look like this, no amount of filling or Botox will work/
