I am feeling and looking rather old. I need to lose a few pounds but over all my figure is okay. I am getting my hair coloured soon.

But I just need some ideas on how to give myself a boost.

Any products you recommend?
Treatments?
Have you felt like this? What did you do?

I have a 2 year old, I work full time and generally at the moment look and feel twice my age Confused

A bit of Botox can be great and isn't too expensive. I had some a few weeks ago and I'm getting lots of compliments Wink Eat well and exercise when you can. I totally feel your pain. I've aged 10 years since my 2 year old came along!

comeherepetal · 05/09/2018 17:40

Yes I blame the 2 year old too Grin

Botox is an interesting idea. Thank you. I am off to research (possibly post another thread too )

I have been trying to drink more water to try and clear my skin up a bit and stop feeling so rubbish. I have also treated myself to some nice day and night moisturiser and superdrug cleanser and make sure I am using them. I also (today) bought some new shoes and felt really put together Grin for once!

I would recommend a bit of Botox, I have it once a year and it keeps the deep lines at bay. Also get your eyebrows done, tinted and shaped, I do my own, it adds some definition to my thinning/greying brows. Give your skin some TLC, face and body moisturizer. A good haircut and colour, had some hair extensions added for thickness, it's really boosted my post baby morale. A quick coat of nail on short easy to manage nails. Treat yourself to some new everyday clothes, a new pair of jeans and t shirt always make me feel more glam. Oh and some nice earrings can give you a lift.

Growingboys · 05/09/2018 19:05

Definitely Botox. Go to a dermatologist for it.

And exercise. Makes the world of difference. Makes you happy and also able to fit into nice clothes.

Growingboys · 05/09/2018 19:06

(I have 3dc and work full time so it's full on but making the effort to fit in a run is so worth it).

A 2 yr old is quite knackering though.

Soyalatteforme · 05/09/2018 19:25

Agree with exercise, gives you a healthy glow, you sleep better and a nice shape wears clothes better. Appreciate it's not easy to find the time though....

On top of that: water, supplements to keep hair and skin in good condition, eat lots of colourful veg and a skincare routine (I do double cleanse, Rose water toner, serum, moisturiser and 50spf in am and swap spf for night cream in on). I will include sleep but that's not something you're in charge of with young kids.....

Following! Some great tips. I've completely gone downhill as I now work from home so am just slinging about in trackies and no make up too!

Drumknott · 05/09/2018 19:52

Before the Botox, I'd get some serious skincare - vitamin c serum & retinol (bearing in mind that if you do, you must have proper spf50 at all times so read up on it), and some decent serums for hydration. Have a look in the Fantastic Skincare threads, lots of resources there. It's cheaper as well, so you'll have some cash left for nice clothes!

Thanks- some really great ideas here. I do exercise, but it is hard with a full on job. The only time I get to go to the gym is the evenings and too often I end up working instead. From next week I am going to be stricter with not logging on at home.

I have never considered Botox before so I am really intrigued. Does it really hurt? Does it look weird after? I would only want it round my eyes.

I am getting my hair coloured tomorrow and then going to get some extensions in too. Not a massive mane, but enough to thicken, add a bit more length and maybe some different colours to compliment my own hair.

I have lots of clothes and eat healthy. I like the idea of treating myself to one amazing item though, like a bag or shoes.

I just look old at the moment. And my skin seems thin (of that makes sense) I have very translucent skin, which I think is ageing and shows tiredness. I want a Matt look, but it's more old, see through, freckles and dark circles Blush

Botox doesn't hurt - it's a bloody godsend (on top of a good skincare routine) and I'm another who has it once a year

Also nails and Hair regularly done

comeherepetal · 05/09/2018 20:01

Hospbear - where do you have it? (As in on your face) And how old are you? (Sorry - so rude!)

I go to a specialist clinic where I live - she is a nurse, had it for first time when I was 37 and have had it once since - due to go again for my 3rd year in October. I need to look at eye options though as I worry for the future

hospbear · 05/09/2018 20:40

Lol I thought geographic location - on my face two areas on forehead - slightly above each eyebrow and middle bit

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 05/09/2018 20:45

Botox is a few injections on your forehead, around your eyes and between your eyebrows. It smooths the creases. Too much can make you look like a Waxwork so get a good recommendation. It's not painful.
Matt make up is more ageing imo, a bit of sheen is better.
