Toner - is it worth it?

I've been taking more care with my cleansing routine recently and can definitely see a difference.

I've never used toner, though. Just don't see the point, especially if thoroughly cleansing and moisturising.

Happy to be convinced otherwise, though.

Modern toners are supposed to help restore the pH level of your skin after cleansing. I think it's good to use toner because it helps to strengthen the top layers of the skin (by restoring pH).

The old school toners used to be for getting rid of excess dirt and residue after cleansing and contained alcohol which was very drying to the skin. I think that's why it has negative associations.

I don't have any recommendations because I don't use toner but I'm on the lookout for one. Just can't be bothered going through all the ingredients.

I never used a toner until the last year or so and I can now say that using an acid toner like the Pixiglow one has made a visible difference to me skin. I use it about three times a week and definitely have clearer, smoother skin.

I always thought toner was to remove residue left from the cleansing stage?

I love the ESPA hydrating floral spafresh one but at £25 a bottle its a bit too pricey, so looking for an alternative.

I have always used a toner (Clarins) and feel my skin is 'tight'if I dont use it, and do feel like my skin is cleaner. Or maybe Im just used to using toner as part of my daily routine

Hmm, thanks - still not entirely convinced, as my cleansing method doesn't leave any residual make-up that needs to be removed, so I wouldn't need it for this purpose. I use an oil-based cleanser, then a water-based cleanser, then a microfibre cloth, then a face cloth. Then I moisturise.

The result is clear, smooth, unblemished skin.

A hydrating primer/toner, perhaps? I am wedded to the SEAsian versions.
