Long boots for wide calves - help

SimplyPut · 03/09/2018 23:23

My annual search is about to commence. I have wider than average calves but not wide enough for plus size boots.
In previous years I have had lovely black knee high boots from jones bookmaker but I would like a change...perhaps tan?

Budget is flexible for the right pair but no more than £150 really.

Hoping for a classic pair, low heel/flat and flexible for both work and leisure. I don't ask much do I? Blush

Check Simply Be and Yours Clothing.

Duo boots (sometimes marketed as ted and muffy) do boots in different calf widths. May be out of budget but you can pick some up in the sale.

Sainsbury’s usually fit my legs, I’ve had one pair for about 5 years. They are leather and cost about £60- cost per wear must be pennies by now.

Ive big calf's and I've found the best ones are rocket dog boots. And they are soooo comfy too! Xx

Ive just bought some lovely lovely boots from Fly London. They have laces up, and zips, so you can adjust the laces for fit and then just use the zips once you have them adjusted

Dr Marten - their fashion range rather than work boots. Obviously it depends on you style!!

butlerswharf · 04/09/2018 09:03

I remember seeing some in M&s last winter

Todamhottoday · 04/09/2018 09:12

Have a look at Hotter

TeamEponine · 04/09/2018 09:16

Clarks in a wide fitting work best for me, although you do need to try them on as the fit differs quite a lot.

Pinkgin50 · 04/09/2018 09:26

I got a lovely pair of long boots last year that fit my big calves from Hotter . Worth a look

GraceMarks · 04/09/2018 10:25

Most long boots have more calf-room in them than they used to - I think manufacturers got wise to the fact that it was a problem for a lot of their customers. I think the only ones I avoid are, oddly enough, Jones. I have always found their boots far too narrow for me, although obviously your current ones didn't have that issue.

SimplyPut · 04/09/2018 11:51

Thanks ladies. Grace my Jones boots are a few years old and they seem to have stopped selling the wide calve ones I have.

I will check out the suggestions, I have always avoided online for boots but think I will need to embrace trial and error.

Asos did a lot of wide calf boots last year. Worth a look.

MaudesMum · 04/09/2018 13:14

Duo have got a new range out which is priced at £150, and (as a long term Duo fan) it is absolutely lovely being able to get a pair that fits perfectly around the calf - they have lots of advice on measuring etc on the website. Equally useful if you are very narrow of calf...

BikeRunSki · 04/09/2018 13:24

Changing the subject a little, where do you wide-calfed ladies get your trousers?

I've always had great success in M&S. Actually it's the only place I'd look for knee length boots now.

Almondio · 04/09/2018 19:46

Not sure if you can get them easily in the UK but Frye boots are gorgeous, and you can get wider fitting ones. They're an investment and will last for years.

PhyllisWig · 04/09/2018 23:31

I got some duo ones in tan from their essentials range with 15% off. Lovely boots.

Uncreative · 05/09/2018 07:51

At the cheaper end of the spectrum, Evans had some a few years ago. Duo boots are more expensive but they do last well.

BikeRunSki · 05/09/2018 08:56

I’ve had Duo boots in the past. The ankles were really baggy on me!
