Boots for walking dog that won't look completely out of place at school

I live in the city so would look odd going to school in wellies but I do plan on going on off road walks and down to the local water parks.

Don't want to spend crazy money.

Just something comfortable for winter that will look ok with jeans and a parka

These might be a bit chunky for what you're after, but I wear these pretty much every day through winter and they're great - waterproof, warm and comfy. If you do go for them, I found they came up quite small on me and had to size up.

Oops, a link might help Grin

Apparently hiking boots are the next big fashion thing according to the Guardian!

ShakeYourBonBon · 03/09/2018 21:15

Really?
I might go for hiking boots then. Hmm

How about some small ankle boot type wellies?

ISeeTheLight · 03/09/2018 21:26

I have Merrell hiking boots in brown nubuck leather. Similar to these. They're great all rounders, I've had them for over 10 years and they're still looking good. Previously used daily walking the dog through a nature reserve. I've even worn them to work when it was snowing.

NC4Now · 03/09/2018 21:28

Something like this?

Rocket Dog

ISeeTheLight · 03/09/2018 21:30

Actually they're Meindl rather than Merrell, look a lot like these Not cheap but they last ages and are very comfortable

rightknockered · 03/09/2018 21:30

Yes, I'm intending to buy a pair of Merrell hiking boots quite soon.

ShakeYourBonBon · 03/09/2018 21:51

The brown trainery things really aren't my style Blush sorry

There's not many nice looking walking boots around

How off road are you talking with the walks? These are warm, comfortable and waterproof and withstand mud etc well but wouldn’t be suitable for deep mud.

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 03/09/2018 22:24

Mine do also come in blue rather than brown Grin

Welligogs look more like riding boots than wellies but are waterproof and pretty warm.

Not cheap but last for ages.

Namechangepuppo · 03/09/2018 23:13

Ooh I like the blue!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 03/09/2018 23:16

I got some ankle wellies from Aldi - perfect for dog walking and not so wellyish :-)

OhNoGroken · 03/09/2018 23:20

What is WRONG with me? I clicked wondering

  1. Why your dog needs boots
  2. If it is walking on hind legs only, as clearly all dogs can walk
  3. Why your dog is self conscious about waiting at the school gates/you are worried about it looking odd

Grin now I have realised - I just wear wellies but live rurally so no one bats an eyelid.

(They’re a copy of dubarry Boots if you’re feeling flash with the cash)

Lovewineandchocolate · 03/09/2018 23:23

What about some 'posh' wellies? Joules for example? The mid leg ones don't look too Farmer Brown!!

DMs?

BubblesBuddy · 04/09/2018 06:40

Timberland. Had mine for years and they still scrub up ok. Hunter wellies if it’s really wet and I like my Aigle wellies too. Aigle are very comfortable. I do own hiking boots but they are very unfashionable in my opinion and strictly for hiking!

Notquiteagandt · 04/09/2018 06:55

I have shorter dubarrys. So not as imposing as my long legs.

I also have some fairfax favour explorer boots which have thicker sole.

All suitible for a city with dog I think.

I may have a boot obsession on reflexion 🙈

MissWimpyDimple · 04/09/2018 07:01

I came on to say Timberland Boots too. Ike a walking boot without all the "functional" toggle bits and bobs!

SavoyCabbage · 04/09/2018 07:09

I wear Doctor Martens.

Wellhellothere101 · 04/09/2018 07:10

I have these tamaris boys which are nicer on than the photo looks. I wear them with skinny jeans and a big chunky jumper in the winter.

MissRainbowBrite · 04/09/2018 07:13

Merrells are great. I've got the Captiva which are nubuck, calf length and look great with jeans but are very warm and waterproof too.
