Can anyone recommend one please? I think I'm looking for something like the hourglass ambient lighting powder but I really can't afford £40 atm. Is there a high street dupe?

If you bought the revolution pallet which one is more like the hour glass one the radiance or beyond radiance as there are two x

Cheesymonster · 04/09/2018 09:09

I read the reviews and more people said the Radiance was like the Hourglass. But they're cheap enough that you could have both (I'm just trying to declutter!).

Do these powders go over foundation and blusher or used instead of?

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 09:22

I get there is a budget issue here, so this one isn't for you, but for anyone else reading, Chanel les beiges. No glitter, and it gives you a healthy dewy look, not like a Matt powder, it's brilliant.

The beautypie one powder wonder is amazing!

Hourglass makes me look soooooo shiny.

(I'm pale and bought diffused light)

thorragnarok · 04/09/2018 13:26

The trick with the Hourglass powders is that they need to be applied properly, with a decent brush. More is less - one swirl of the brush on the powder and one sweep over your face is all you need. If you look shiny if because you're using too much powder or a crap brush.

I have Ethereal light for the winter (paler) and Dim light for summer (slight tan). I use a Real Techniques brush and use the powder over the top of Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. IMO it looks much better swept lightly over a base as a finish than used alone.

I got mine from a larger John Lewis store - suggest going and trying them to find the right shade as guessing could be an expensive mistake.

Doubt that, unless their own brush they sell for the purpose of using with the powder is crap.

Also, I use one sweep, if anything I always use less product rather than too much.

Mumsnut · 04/09/2018 13:50

I've got the Hourglass trio and just sweep a brush over the three colours then onto my face. Is this wrong?

thorragnarok · 04/09/2018 13:52

^ It quite possibly is. Grin

Bluntness100 - what shade of the Chanel do you use/recommend?

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 14:08

I'm quite pale so use 20. It's not the lightest shade, I think ten is. There is not many of them, six or eight i think, but they are great, it sort of still matts down the shiney areas, but then leaves a dewy glow all over instead, it's hard to describe really, but this one does exactly what it says on the tin. I think it's advertises to give a healthy glow and it does.

You can either use on its own if in a rush or over foundation. It's not cheap though but lasts ages.

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 14:13

Sorry not sure why that doesn't work.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 04/09/2018 14:20

So you saying Real Tecniques is better than the Hourglass brush?

Sarcelle · 04/09/2018 14:45

Bluntness100 Thanks, I like the sound of that.

Avon magix powder

I love it

Biologifemini · 04/09/2018 20:54

The first ingredient in the hourglass powders is synthetic fluorogopite (synthetic mica). Most powders have talc and mined mica.
Synthetic mica is finer so if you check the ingredients you should be able to find a similar glow product.
Rimmel does some.

Hourglass dim light here

squishee · 04/09/2018 23:15

Soap & Glory Love at First Blush. Love it.

Lizzy1980 · 05/09/2018 05:46

Bare Minerals mineral veil is lovely. It's a really fine powder and gives a very subtle dewy sheen. It's about £20 but you need so little that a pot will last you for ages
