Are all hot cloth cleansers about equal?

I've always used the original Liz Earle one, but my SIL has recently switched from this to a much cheaper one, think it's the NSpa one from a supermarket? and she swears it's just as good.

Any other opinions?

I love the Aldi lacura one, smells amazing and it’s only £3.99 too.

isitmeinthewrong · 02/09/2018 20:43

I've actually just started using the Aldi one, only a couple of days in but so far I like it. I can't see that it's much different to LE

magpie24 · 02/09/2018 20:43

Following with interest as am loyal to LE but it is pricey

Impulsesealer · 02/09/2018 20:44

Try the Superdrug vit e one. It’s lovely and very similar ingredients

POPholditdown · 02/09/2018 20:46

I thought so too, but I used the Superdrug own one and it broke me out (but tbf most of that brand did) and I’ve never really had issues with other versions.

I have used other products in Nspa though and I love it.

Will have to Aldi’s cleanser now.

goose1964 · 02/09/2018 20:57

I've only tried the bee good honey and propolis one. It's got a lovely smell and doesn't dry my skin out ( dry/normal combination)

Frankenterfer · 02/09/2018 21:10

I used to like the sanctuary one, and the superdrug radiance one I still use. I also love the body shop chamomile balm which I use the same way. I didn't like the one from waitrose, it was very oily. I've not tried the aldi, but will do if they're vegan now.

SecondTimeCharm · 02/09/2018 21:11

i swear by the emma hardie morninga cleansing balm. it’s pricey but i use only the most tiny amount so it lasts a long time and it’s just the most wonderful product (i have normal to dry skin)

Thebasicweegie · 02/09/2018 21:17

I've changed from Liz Earle to one you can get in boots called your good skin. It's so much cheaper I think its much better than Liz Earle, hasn't caused me any break outs and I swore by Liz Earle for years!

Licencedtodrill · 02/09/2018 21:25

I used to use expensive brands but for the past few years have switched to boots cold cream or something similar, with a clean flannel. I have very dry skin and prefer a thicker cleanser than LE.

Baumederose · 02/09/2018 21:27

Another vote for the aldi one. It's good

CutesyUserName · 02/09/2018 21:28

Another Aldi Lacura user here. It's excellent stuff.

Doingreat · 03/09/2018 01:42

How do people manage to get hold of the aldi cleanser? Is it part of their permanent range now or seasonal/special buy type thing? I've certainly never seen one in store.

WingingWonder · 03/09/2018 01:45

I love LE but ££ so switched to the Aldi one- and then back again
It seemed fine but 2 weeks in skin was no where near as good...

CakeNinja · 03/09/2018 07:31

The LE one lasts me months so don’t find it pricey in the grand scheme of things.
I have a huge collection of both oil
and water based cleansers (which may account for why it lasts so long Grin ) because I double cleanse and I don’t think they’re all equal at all.

SinglePringle · 03/09/2018 07:35

I can’t use the LE one since they sold the brand and changed it. Makes me spotty. Ditto the Superdrug one.

I use the Clinique one and love it. Fairly reasonable at £15 a lot, since it lasts around 3 months.

Yogagirl123 · 03/09/2018 07:42

I’m a fan of the Aldi Hot cloth Cleanser too, they only sell it from time to time so I buy a couple of packs when they have it in store.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/09/2018 08:36

To me the difference is whether the cream or oil emulsifies when you add water. Ones that do, regardless of expensive or cheap seem to work the same. Ones that don't, and have to be physically removed on their entirety with a flannel or muslin -those are the ones that for me stand or fall on their ingredients because cheaper ones with tons of cocoa butter in leave me spotty if I don't remove every trace.

MiniTheMinx · 03/09/2018 10:59

Is it a good idea to use hot water on your skin? I tried LE and the Superdrug vit e one, both left my skin dry. I persisted with it because I was in Brighton in very cold blustery weather every day. I thought I had dry skin anyway, so carried on. Result was very dry sensitive skin.
I switched to using Nuxe facial wash with tepid water and using small facial sponges. It seems far more gentle and I don't have dry skin! I think the real difference is in the temperature of the water. I think the hot cloth method is quite harsh.

StupidFly · 03/09/2018 11:08

The LE one aggravates my skin, I like the Boots No7 one.

Rach000 · 03/09/2018 12:59

I have used the nspa one, think it's asda and it's good. It was my sister that told me about it. I used to use liz earle as well. Would rather get the cheaper one. I may spend more on a good cream when I can afford it.

fishonabicycle · 03/09/2018 13:30

I've used Liz Earle, eve lom, superdrug and soap and glory and they all seem to be about the same to me.
