Mid 30s clothing rut - HELP! (Please!)

Hoping for some sage advice from you stylish people.
I’m mid —late— 30s and desperately need some clothes, both for work and at home. I’m very much a skinny jeans and T shirt girl, happy with that tbh, no desire to start wearing dresses at the weekend! I work in a professional role (NHS) but still fairly casual, usually wear cropped trousers or a skirt with a top. I have hardly any clothes at the moment and really need some but have no idea where to go.
I don’t mind spending money, but yet can’t bring myself to spend £60 on a polyester top from some of the fancier places. Quality preferred. Used to like GAP but can hardly find anything I like there. Everything else seems too young, too trendy or too mumsy. I also don’t have a lot of time for shopping (and don’t really enjoy it either).
Please help me, I definitely need it!!

I totally agree about the polyester. I feel so disappointed when I go to a fancy shop and the material feels cheap and costs loads.

Have you seen the Joanie website? There’s a lot of vintage-y style stuff on there which I like, lots of it was 100% cotton. I ordered a few things on there the other day (mix of home/work stuff) so I await that with trepidation!

ASOS has some nice work wear pieces (and some ideas of how to put them together on the models!)

Like these trousers as they are similar shape to skinny jeans so they should be comfy for you, if you see what I mean.

Would look nice with a skinny rib Polo or a blouse/shirt.

New look and Oasis also have some nice bits.

Maybe add a nice soft jersey blazer for when it gets a bit colder so you can still look smart but be cosy

Hope that helps...sorry if not really your style!

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. Have looked at those. I don’t really like the culottes but the skinny trousers are nice. Hadn’t thought of ASOS. I find it quite daunting to search for things on there!

I feel like this too, I think it’s because stuff I wore as teenagers is back in style.

I love ASOS for the sheer range of decent clothes.

Have you considered a capsule wardrobe?
