Tell me what high street shampoo to buy

I need new shampoo. I usually just get Aussie but their marketing increasingly makes me suspect they’re playing me for a mug, and since I now have longer hair than usual (thanks to thyroid treatment) I’m feeling more need to take care of it. However the sight of the shampoo shelves in Boots makes my decision making centres curl up in a small ball at the back of my skull and go “wibble”.

So can you lot tell me please? I’ll just buy whatever gets most suggestions. Needs to be available in large branches of Boots/Superdrug. Conditioner suggestions also welcome (although my approach is usually to buy the cheapest available, slather it on and leave it for a few minutes).

Relevant information: I’m 52 with straight, fine, shoulder length Caucasian hair and I wash it every day, more or less (it feels icky if I don’t).

Thanks in advance Thanks

L’Oréal elvive from Superdrug, sometimes get it delivered to store so it’s not a wasted trip and there waiting for me.

My hair gets fed up of shampoos after a couple of months and I have to keep changing.

I have hair like you and swap between the Herbal Essences daily detox or Tresemme cleanse and replenish. I find they leave my hair feeling really clean and do t leave a film like L'Oréal or Pantene

I alternate between dove and herbal essences
Always for either very dry or coloured hair
Tresemme doesn’t work for me
I have wavy/curly hair so it’s more about the conditioners and curl creams
I only wash 1-2 times a week

Reason I tend to buy Hask in Superdrug is that they have a much bigger selection to choose from than my local Boots & there offers are better on this brand. Good luck in your quest 😀

Have used OGX in the past and it's a good brand. I've been using John Frieda at the moment and love it! Works well with my fine hair.
Miraculous Recovery shampoo and conditioner - you can get it from Boots/Superdrug/supermarkets too. I tend to buy it when it's on the 3 for 2 offer, and buy the 500ml pump bottles, which last for aaaages!

Same age and hair as you! I was also recommended Hask Superfruit but haven't tried it yet as my local Superdrug doesn't have it (just online).

Another recommendation was OGX Biotin which I am using. Hair definitely feels soft and I think with a bit more "body". Doesn't feel greasy on the 2nd day. Just have to see if it weighs down my hair when using regularly.

3rd rec is Josh Wood for coloured hair (although mine isn't). Hairs feels soft and I liked it but felt it was too drying when used regularly. Might use every now and again it if the Biotin feels too heavy.

OGX was on offer in Superdrug when I bought a couple of weeks ago. £3.65, I think, in Boots at the same time for a £ more. Josh Wood was £7 in Boots (a while ago) but usually £10.

Lee Stafford coco loco is good and smells great. Normally 3 for 2 at boots

I have fine oily hair and scalp and honestly the best ive ever used and now use everyday is philip Kingsley. I buy in bulk from qvc. Id also recommend the elastisizer.

So I make that 6 votes for OGX with John Frieda and L’Oreal runners up on 4 each, followed by Hask and Herbal Essences on 3.

I’ll get some OGX and report back.

Thanks all.

I use the gold coloured ogx shampoo and conditioner and really like them both.
