Estée Lauder double wear or channel cream foundation?

sourpatchkid · 30/08/2018 22:40

Never used it but illamasque is supposed to be good

Ollivander84 · 30/08/2018 22:41

Double wear! Or for a lower price I have L'Oréal infallible stay fresh which isn't drying
Makeup revolution are about to bring out conceal and define foundation which looks really good

Lancôme Ultra 24h, will never use anything else

Thanks to a similar thread a few weeks back I have just discovered IT foundation. It's really fabulous and doesn't test on animals like Estée Lauder and most of the other brands you find in the department store.

Totally agree re: Estee Lauder Double Wear. But I've also found Revlon Colourstay has worked really well for me.

Elledorado · 31/08/2018 09:42

Colorstay is great for a cheap everyday foundation (& good for acne). I also love illamasqua. Lancome tenite ultra is good but oxidises on me. I have the IT cosmetics one on my hit list. Eldw is so cakey and grim ime.

I think the best advice I've ever had however is to deal with your skin first and then look at makeup. Do you have bad acne and do you treat or have you treated the scarring? Is it just red or pitted?

TheDowagerCuntess · 31/08/2018 09:49

You may have tried this, so apologies if so.

But have you tried double cleansing to sort your skin out?

I'm a recent convert, and I had no idea my skin could look so good.

I hardly need any foundation at all any more, because my skin is near luminous - something I never thought I would say about my skin.

I do still wear foundation - can't imagine I will ever not - but I hardly need any now.

It cosmetics with the brush! Amazing stuff!

Doingreat · 31/08/2018 10:12

@thedowager any tips on how you do your double cleansing? I really need to get into this. What do you use? Is it a morning and evening routine?

anitagreen · 31/08/2018 10:34

Huda beauty is very full coverage but very thick,
Double wear is also very good

TheDowagerCuntess · 31/08/2018 16:24

@Doingreat - I remove make-up with an oil-based cleanser and cotton pads, and then finish with a water-based cleanser (I just use the Garnier micellar cleansers - cheap as chips, but you can use whatever you like).

Then I wash with warm water and a microfibre make-up remover cloth (www.takeitoff.co.nz) and then finally exfoliate with a bog standard face cloth and hot water. The cloths get thrown in with the daily wash.

That's at night time. In the morning, I just use the microfibre cloth in the shower.

It sounds like a bit of a faff but it's not, and it has made such a difference.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion is my holy grail- my skin is more oily though but his stuff stays in place all day without slipping or separating on my nose. It looks smooth even on dry patches. If you wear a good moisturiser under it, it should be fine for dryer skin as it's not drying and doesn't contain alcohol.

Cakefairy1978 · 31/08/2018 19:54

Re: double cleanser would the miscellar oil then the miscellar water work the same

TheDowagerCuntess · 31/08/2018 20:01

Cakefairy - that's what I use and it's great. Obviously if you want to spend more, that's fine too!

Doingreat · 31/08/2018 20:16

Thanks @thedowager. I'm off to look at the microfibre cloths...
