Recommendations for cleaning makeup brushes

Any recommendations for good products? I use liquid foundation and need something that will lift it off the bristles. I was using MAC's cleaner which works brilliantly but I would prefer to spend less than £20 a bottle!

Baby shampoo seems to work on sponges but my brushes are never really that clean after washing with it. Interested in anything else out there also!

I had the same problem for a long time. No problem cleaning my eye shadow/blusher brushes with standard soap or shampoo, but getting my foundation brushes clean was impossible.
Then I had a revelation looking at youtube videos.... The solution is you need something 'greasy' to break the foundation out! I am now using up a jar of coconut oil and it works a treat. I will then probably move to olive oil or any other oil I have available.
You first dip the brush in the oil mixed with some soap. You let it sit there for a minute and then you start the 'standard' cleaning process with the soap and you will see all the foundation disappear from the bristles.

Even in my pro makeup artist days, I used washing up liquid on my brushes and still do. Works a charm.

I just use a cheap face wash.

Whatever is in the clearance counter at tkmaxx labelled brush cleaner. Or Serozinc sprayed on to a large cotton pad, and wiped through back and forth until clean, so it is also sterilised. Or washing up liquid, or shampoo.

Baby shampoo 100%.

Fairy liquid platinum. You do need something to cut through the grease, but FLP does this just fine.
