I was watching a program on BBC1 last night about aging.

The upshot was to wear sunscreeen with a 5 star UVA level and use Retinol. I use a good sunscreen.

What is a good Retinol product to start with? The expert recommended starting with a low level of Retinol and. building up gradually.

I really like the ordinary granactive 2% - it doesnt sting or make my skin dry and itchy like other higher strength retinols or retin a

Interesting. What are the skin benefits of Retinol please? I want to buy The Ordinary but it's hard to know which one to buy as in difference between Retinol and Retin A

I use the Beauty Pie super retinol range, I have found others really too harsh for my skin (am 48), but I have been a member for a year or so and only recently started using the retinol products having tried and loved their other skincare.

The Ordinary is so inexpensive that I would say use it as a start point. Prescription Retin A is fierce and really ripped onto my skin.

Sorry benefits of TO granactive 2% = way clearer, softer skin for me. I dont know about ageing however, I think I need botox for that.

La Roche Posay Redermic R is good, I think it's 1%. You need to build up to higher percentages as Retinol can cause reactions, and definitely wear with sunscreen.

Retinol and RetinA are quite different things, RetinA is prescription only in the UK. The fantastic skincare thread (with a snail in the title) is really friendly and amazingly knowledgeable. Ome over and join us, there are information sheets linked at the start of each new thread, including one on retinols.

Some people now boycott Deciem/The Ordinary as a result of the behaviour of the CEO so you may not get recommendations for their products but there are lots of options at various price points.
