How much do you worry about toxins in your skin care and makeup?

I've been wondering about this for a while now, especially as 'natural and organic' products have risen to prominence in the beauty sphere.

I've been trying to get my head round all the chemicals to look out for but it's impossible to keep track of all the things that are bad for you and why they are bad for you and what they are exactly.

Also, some of the super organic, natural stuff is really expensive and I can't figure out how the formulas can stay so stable and fresh and effective without some sort of chemical being used. Why is fragrance considered bad in creams but perfume is not considered bad for instance? (you're still putting it on the skin even if it's not the face).

Any other opinions out there? There's no way I'm stopping using all my beauty products or wearing perfume because I love it but I was just wondering if I should be worrying more or less or should just let it be.

It is really confusing isn't it?

Although I don't think anyone ever died from being over-made up (well not since they stopped using lead in it!).

I worked out once that I use at least a dozen products on my face/hair/body before I even leave the house in the morning which I found a bit shocking. But there isn't one that I'd cut out.

all products are safety tested under eu and uk law. all contain chemicals, as do you.

buy from eu and it is fine.

no products except sunscreen do anything real, of course.
