How do I get rid of it?

Can't post a photo as I only registered yesterday.

It's big, it's red, it's angry. No, I haven't squeezed it (urgh).

Paste made of water and salt covered by band aid and leave overnight.

May leave the area looking red but you should be able to cover with makeup!?

Sod's law that it would happen now.

Good luck!

amymel2016 · 27/08/2018 10:22

Don’t squeeze or pick it!! It sounds counter productive but you need to feed and treat it, put oil on it followed by a spot treatment. Any facial oil will do and a treatment such as the one by Aesop. Keep doing this and acid tone, it should come to a head which you can leave until it pops. Keep it clean and it should heal by next week. Clinique do a spot gel - full stop I think it's called - brilliant stuff

Neffall · 27/08/2018 16:48

Thanks! Have a done a panic buy in Space NK and they showed me a sulphur concoction which I'm going to give a go.

The ordinary - salycitic acid! Also, take extra care cleansing and try to drink plenty of water to flush that bad boy away.

NinetySixer · 27/08/2018 17:01

It may look ugly but dap a cotton ball in original listerine and tape over the spot.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/08/2018 17:08

I use white toothpaste which works if I get a rogue spot ( Note to self : wash it off before going out)

DD tried it and burnt her skin (she has more sensitive skin than mine)

Claricestarling1 · 27/08/2018 17:10

Sudocrem..amazing stuff!!

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 27/08/2018 17:11

Acnecide. Over the counter. It will have gone down in 2 - 3 days.

PrimalLass · 27/08/2018 17:30

Ice it.

Neffall · 27/08/2018 19:24

Thanks! I've got some ancient sudocreme somewhere. It's a family wedding so I'll be in the photos, not that there will be any close ups, but I remember my cousin developed a similar spot just in time for her wedding day. My mother went around telling everyone about it and saying What a shame she has that huge spot on her chin to ruin her day .

If all else fails, get yourself a green concealer stick to buff out the redness - they really work! Apparently Barry M's one is good.

OrcinusOrca · 27/08/2018 19:57

Careful that it doesn't go dry and flaky with things like salicylic acid. Is it likely to develop a head or might it be cystic? I find I get cystic ones a lot and they disappear quite quickly if I moisturise well and don't fiddle. My skin goes very dry easily and I find dry skin harder to hide and it tends to emphasise the spot more.

Diamond25 · 27/08/2018 21:16

Clearasil rapid pimple cream is good

LyndaLaHughes · 27/08/2018 21:30

Go and get some Acnecide from the chemist. Honestly it is the best thing ever and trust me it will go away if you leave it alone other than putting this on. It's a miracle worker (and I say that as someone who was on medication for skin).

MrMeSeeks · 27/08/2018 21:36

La roche posay or avene spot cream especially are fantastic.

SilverHairedCat · 27/08/2018 21:38

Ooh, do tell the name of the sulphur product - that usually works wonders for me, but the one I used has been discontinued.

Wanttomakemincepies · 27/08/2018 21:49

Blister plaster overnight. It draws out the hunk

SinkGirl · 27/08/2018 21:53

I think acnecide is similar to stuff I used to buy from the chemist which is no longer available (panoxyl was its name) - think when I looked it up it had the same ingredient.

If so, that stuff is absolutely the best thing for spots. You do need to moisturise though as it can really dry your skin out. Don’t go squeezing it, you’ll end up with a big abrasion you can’t cover (been there!)

MummyFoxy · 27/08/2018 21:54

When I was a teenager and got big angry red spots, my nana used to get me to use magnesium sulfate paste - dab a bit on the spot, cover with some cotton wool and a plaster and leave on overnight. It draws the pus out. It worked really well (and was disgustingly satisfying to see what had been drawn out in the morning Blush). Just looked and you can buy it from boots, probably available from most chemists as it's used to draw out boils

mostdays · 27/08/2018 21:59

Blister plaster. It is amazing. Leave it on as long as you can. I cannot believe how effective this was!

Neffall · 27/08/2018 22:17

It's by Malin&Goetz

I take your point about the dry skin. It's a deep hard spot but had a head in it as well. It's a hormone spot so I supposed I'd better get used to them.

NYX green concealer if it doesn't come to a head. I use it to cover my rosacea flare ups and it really works, plus it's only 6.99. The wand has a more liquid consistency than the pot but both work.
