Help! What to wear with a pixie crop?

I've had short hair for a few years now and I love it, but I've found it an absolute nightmare trying to work out how to dress it.

The obvious answer is to lean towards a Parisian, androgynous look (cigarette pants, brogues, cute but not overly fussy shirts etc). Problem is I've found that unless you look like one of the Audreys (Tatou, Hepburn) or Clemence Poesy it can be easy to find yourself on the wrong side of chic, effortless cool and.....dull.

By contrast I'm always drawn towards a much more bohemian, quirky look. I love almost everything on Free People - the low jeans, quirky military jackets, the rich mesh of fabrics like velvet and cord and the sexy fitted tops. I always think this free-spirited style looks much better on women with long, flowing hair and a slight tan. It doesn't look quite so authentic when you're pale with a dark pixie!

What would you say is a good "look" for a woman with a pixie? Do you think I can get away with a bohemian, folksy look without looking frumpy or would it be best to stick to clean lines? Have you ever seen a woman with short hair rock a particular look?

For reference I'm 5ft6 and middling-slim.

Oh, life is too short for this angst, Wicker!

Have your hair styled in a way you love, and wear clothes that make you happy!

I've got short hair too and I agree it does make you reassess your style. I think you can totally wear the Free People style, in fact I really like the contrast between very feminine floaty clothing and a sharp masculine haircut. It sort of balances it out.

I've got a pixie cut and where what I like!
To make it more girly you can accessorise e.g. head wraps, headbands, pretty clips
Play with the fringe to go from a more punky/quiff style to sleek and chic, or tousled and fun.
Then just dress to match.
I do find that if it's mousy brown and short it can be a little dull/boyish with certain clothing styles, compared to blonde/red/quirky colours.
