Beautified by the sea

On a bit of a mission... I am pretty hopeless at the old beauty regime but am currently determined to pull myself up by the boot straps and look after myself better (I’m on the train leaving frumpsville too) partly to support my lacking in confidence teenage DD. As a result of a conversation we had earlier... what we have jokingly called our “because you’re worth it” chats, love a cheesy advertising slogan... my DD commented that her skin was really clear and felt great after she had been swimming in the sea on holiday and are there skin products that are based on sea salt, like there are hair products? So that is my mission, are there any face products (cleanser, moisturiser, etc) out there that are based on sea salt, aren’t ridiculously priced and people would recommend? Sorry for the long post, never been one for using a dozen words when I can squeeze in eleventy billion Wink Grin

Watching this post as that's such an interesting theory. Maybe it's a combo of the salt, sunshine and being make up free?

tinstar · 25/08/2018 12:37

I had really bad acne in my 20s and 30s which would clear up completely on holiday abroad. Didn't work however hot it was in the UK but the sea and hot sun abroad worked miracles.

I'm afraid I didn't ever find any way of replicating that at home and now wrinkles are my main concern!

Look for products with Dead Sea salt x

Cheekyblinders · 25/08/2018 15:11

She reckoned it was the sea because she only swam in the sea two days of our holiday... the sun probably helped though. Definitely not to do with make up as she never wears any, not even the clear lip gloss in her Christmas sack!
Thanks for the Dead sea salt tip... it gets good amazon reviews too so we will give it a go! Grin

REN have a bath oil and salts.

Decleor do a seaweed bath in sachets.

Or, if you want to full treatment, do a thalassotherapy on the French Atlantic coast.

Dead Sea Spa Magik have quite a wide range. Holland & Barrett stock it, John Lewis used to, they might still.

Cheekyblinders · 25/08/2018 17:44

That’s what I saw on Amazon! Here’s hoping it lives up to its reviews. Can’t see me ever being able to afford a French spa trip as a back up though... but I can dream!

Boots sell a range of dead sea salt soaps and bath products / moisturisers. The black soap is about £3 and really helped my skin when i had mild acne/ rosacea. I would definitely recommend it!

Branleuse · 25/08/2018 18:02

Sun and sea and fresh air are good for my skin too.

GeeGaw42 · 25/08/2018 18:03

Sorry for horrible link!!!! Shock

BikeRunSki · 25/08/2018 18:07

My skin is always amazing even I’ve been swimming in the sea.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 25/08/2018 18:25

Lush's BIG shampoo and Ocean Salt scrub are lovely!

Cheekyblinders · 25/08/2018 21:09

I realise now my previous post made little sense... she felt that it was the sea because she only went in on two days and it was after these that her skin felt and looked better. I have now ordered her some cleanser and moisturiser from Dea Sea Spa Magik, fingers crossed!

This is great!

I think it's the salt. Think about how your face looks if you've been in the sea and let the water dry on you. You will have little bits of white salt.

When you wash your face, it acts as a natural exfoliant.

Add to that the sun - which improves oily skin and dries out spots.

tinstar · 25/08/2018 23:12

And I think the sun has anti-bacterial properties too.
