Wanting rid of stomach overhang

Has anyone ever had surgery or non surgical lipo to get rid of a stomach overhang?

I've had two laparoscopies for ectopic pregnancies and two caesarians, and have also gained and lost weight a couple of times.

I'm not keen on a tummy tuck as I've had enough of invasive surgery, but am not sure if any other treatment will make much difference.

I've started a new fitness regime and want to keep this up for a year before I go for any surgery. I'm losing weight but I suspect some of the skin and fat isn't going to shift, no matter how much I diet or work out.

If anyone in a similar situation has had any work done I'd love to hear how it went.

Well. Maybe I can help on a couple of fronts. First, I work at a private hospital,
and went to a session about cool sculpting including watching a woman having it done. It looked very uncomfortable but very impressive for one session. Extremely expensive though, being at a surgeon's.

Meanwhile, I had no idea what difference Pilates was making to my stomach until I stopped doing it!

I used to do 1 or more hour long sessions a week, matwork, group sessions, some private classes... and the impact of having great core strength on my stomach apron (horrible expression!), was amazing given that now I have a huge hanging down gut Confused.

I'm four months post C-section. Trying to lose weight and exercise and have a horrendous overhang. I'm always amazed on these threads by how much people are able to commit to diet and exercise with small children. So impressive! I'm really trying but I hardly even have time to shower a few times a week Confused I don't know what I'll do about mine if it doesn't shift longer term. I really hate it. I've always worn stretchy/knitted bodycon type dresses and i'm not sure I'll ever wear one again!

I weigh a LOT more than I should for my height. Have such a long way to go... Sad If I got time to go to Pilates etc I would like to but I'm wary about damaging my stomach muscle split. They are still coming together after pregnancy.

When are they going to invent pregnancy for men, so my DH can have our third baby...? Hmm

I first went to pilates in part because of my abdominal split = 3cm.

If you have a good teacher, it’s one of hte best ways to heal it.

Well, here I am...
So surgery over, and overhang disposed of.

Thank you for your good wishes FlubQueen.
So, yes, it was private. Total cost, £6,600. £3,200 of this for the surgeon.

The operation took three hours, and he removed 2.5 kilos. I had a big belly above and below the belly button He cut from hip to hip, removed the fat and some skin, then removed some fat from above the belly button. he pulled down the skin from above the belly button and joined it to the skin round the hip. He said my stomach was unusually placed so could not flatten it more.

I spent a night in hospital. I have to wear hi rise shapewear knickers plus a sort of corset to keep it all in place. This will continue for the next few weeks. I also wear surgical stockings. During my recovery time in hospital, they attached some wraps around my feet that would pulse every 10 seconds.
Lots of pillows in my bed, to keep a 'c' shape in my tummy. Have been told to walk like an old lady. Lots of painkillers and also lots of laxatives, as I musn't strain. Take it easy for the next six weeks and no heavy lifting.

My next appointment with him is on Tuesday. I had come to the operation with my hi rise knickers (from Primark) in XL, but he said they were too big, so yesterday I went into town and got some in L. He might tell me to get some in M. He said that they have to be tight so that the belly doesn't settle into wavy lines.

Will try to up load before and after photos when I work out how to do so!

Wow @ally that sounds like a helluva recovery process! Will you be off work the whole time too? I've never stopped to think about the reality of such a op!

cheesemongery · 02/09/2018 17:44

Wishing you a speedy recovery Ally - that sounds horrendous! I just thought these celebs had their C-secs and tummy tucks at the same time like it was a 5 minute job. Take care of yourself - I think in my mid 40's I'll now re-evaluate... (I'll have the face lift instead!) Flowers

Wow ally thanks for sharing. Wish you a good recovery. Would be great if you feel up to posting pics as you mentioned. Really interesting.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and congratulations. Lurked on your thread because I’ve often contemplated a breast reduction and tummy tuck. Reading this, you sound far tougher and braver than I could ever manage. Yay you, as the young say Flowers

Hallo , hope the photos come up!

Am doing well. but I am very tired. I sleep alot. Luckily I have no work at the moment (but unluckily for my bank balance of course!] so it is easy to recuperate
