Hair still ruined 2 years after having a baby!

Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else? My hair has completely changed since having my daughter 2 years ago. No amount of cutting, treatments etc seems to help... it seems like it has been ruined forever and falls out a lot more now.

Also I have PCOS so was thinking maybe this is partly hormonal issue and can this effect your hair?

I know it's trivial and it's only hair but it is really affecting my confidence!

Are you on the contraceptive pill. That dried me and my hair out completely to the point lots fell out.

However it might be that your ferritin levels are low? Go have a blood test. Ferriton lrvels need to be over 50 and 70

Mine took ages to recover OP, it thinned out considerably. Have you gone down the vitamin/supplement route yet ?

I take folic acid every day. Thanks for replies! Maybe I need to consider supplements especially for hair but thought they were a load of rubbish tbh!

Have you had your iron levels checked recently? Low iron made my hair look very dry and it can lead to hair loss too.

Better than your stomach being ruined. I could happily live with no hair if I could have my stomach back!

Fair point bubble Grin stomach also ruined here due to operation after said baby! Good job they're worth it hey!

Hi. My hair was also completely changed after having a baby. It became like straw and also turned curly. It has recovered a lot now (four years on) however I take iron supplements and have had to completely change the way I look after my hair. I now follow the curly girl method as described on other forum posts and even bought a new style of hairdryer. My hair is now in a much better state.

I hope that things improve for you soon.

Thanks Autumn .... it looks like iron supplements are a must!

My hair was like rough straw after babies and it was thyroid related, worth a blood test as common.

I am on the same boat had my son 16 months ago and my hair is dull and falls out. I have also tried everything even Olaplex at the hair dressers and argan oil at home,i am going to try Spatone iron supplement to see if it helps. I had shiney good hair pre baby Confused

Glad it's not just me although it is so frustrating isn't it!

Consider a decent multivitamin. I don't blow dry mine anymore or use heated appliances. I've found products that suit my hair and I stick to them (Aveda) and non silicone products. I wrap it in a ham man towel after washing and just am very careful with it. I do olaplex 3 at home once a month too.

I use Spatone as well and get on well with it as an iron supplement.
