Eye make up ending up half way down my face

Wondering if there is some clever trick that stops this happening to everyone else..... Clearly waterproof mascara is a good place to start (although I hate the stuff as it's so hard to get off). But it's not just that.... If I put even a touch of eye liner near my bottom lashes I end up looking like I've got a black eye within a few hours. No idea why. Is there such a thing as waterproof eye liner? I have gone years without putting anything on my lower lashes or lash line, but am now old bag and could do with a bit more definition so my eyes don't disappear. Anyone got any tips? TIA....

Boots do a mascara that I swear by - it's a long lasting formula that you soak off with water - the staff on the counter should know which it is! I also hate waterproof as it just seems to leave a residual darkness when I take it off. Watching for other helpful hints and great products.

OP, I have always had the same problem with eye liner giving me a lower eye panda. I attribute it to having oily eyelids. Helps with staving off wrinkles but bad for eye liner.

Liquid eyeliner lasts longer but pandas more badly so I have no choice but to touch up and reapply frequently. I wish I had the answer.

For mascara, I wear tube mascara, such as No.7 Stay Perfect Mascara

Frankly nowadays, I wear minimal eye make up and rely on my (drawn in) eye brows instead.

What sort of eyeliner are you using?

NotdeadyetBOING · 21/08/2018 14:19

I have all sorts of eyeliners - the gel type that you paint on (but a bit harsh for day and lower lash line) and just normal crayon type - softer so can be smudged a bit.

Wondering if the trick might be to put some sort of primer on first. I know there are eye lid primers to stop all the produce sliding, but have never heard of anyone using it below the eye.

Surely this must be a common issue?!

Very interested in the Boots mascara you mention, Zebra, and will investigate.......

I need to wear a lot of powder or my makeup slides off my eyes. I layer up 2 types of powder then mascara and eyeliner to ensure it doesn’t budge.

Benefit do an eye primer that goes right round the eye, and there is boots natural collection mascara water guard, that very easy to take off

My sister wears a lot of eye make up and she swears by Urban Decays primer potion. She uses it above and below. Just rubs it on like eye cream.

Mac paint pots are the only primers that work on my hooded eyes, I use painterly which is fair skin coloured.

Kat Von D tattoo liner is the only eyeliner that doesn't budge, though I'm looking for an alternative - I think one of the Pixiwoo sisters instagrammed a Clinique liner that was just as unmovable

It's Clinique pretty easy eyeliner pen

TiffinBox · 22/08/2018 05:28

Primer and powder first before makeup.

Same problem here op! I'm reading replies with interest..

Urban decay 24/7 pencil is pretty good I find. I use it on my lower lash line. I use Bobbi Brown long wear gel on my upper lash line. It literally doesn't budge. Mascara-wise, the only one I've found that stays put is Benefit's they're real. It's tough to get off though.

NotdeadyetBOING · 22/08/2018 08:55

Thanks so much all for input. Sounds like I need to start by trying either the Benefit or Urban Decay primer. I have the Bobbi Brown long wear gel (little pot that you apply with brush) and was wondering about trying it on lower line.....

A good setting spray on top might help too. Again Urban Decay is very good but I’ve a NYX one that makes a big difference to my oily mug.
