Having colours done and fake tan

Hi lovely S&B enthusiasts in my phone! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ As part of my huge wardrobe sort and creation of a capsule wardrobe of sorts, I’m interested in what my colours are. First, could someone please recommend the best websites that I can find this out for free (and I may well have my colours done by a person/professionally as a treat at a later date!)? Secondly, sounds a bit of a funny question, but I am a die-hard fake tanner and never will my beloved St Tropez be prised from my hand and all the info I can find suggests that colours of course work with your natural skin tone. Can someone please give me some hope? šŸ˜€šŸ˜¬ Any people who have had their colours done and can describe their appearance and colours choices I’d be super interested and grateful. Thanks so much x

I had mine done (someone dropped out last minute at a work event, so got it done for free) and I'm an autumn. I'm dark haired with greenish eyes, I don't tan easily but also don't burn. I fake tan regularly and the woman said that that isn't an issue - the undertones are the same regardless.

I suit tomato red the best, as well as rust, petrol, aubergine, khaki and ochre. Looking forward to the autumn colours coming into the shops.

If you always always wear fake tan then there’s no point in having your colours done properly (without fake tan) as the process looks at your natural skin tones which you then just cover up with tan.

Case study, how can the undertones be the same when you’ve dyed your skin brown with fake tan? That’s not right surely. I am a true jewel winter but when I wear fake tan I can suddenly wear orange, brown and khaki which all look hideous on me normally. Because I’ve changed my skin tone!

Just repeating what I was told. Have to admit, it’s not something that I particularly believed in - colours she told me not to wear are ones that I get told regularly that I look good in.

I’ve taken more notice about the colours I’m wearing when people compliment me and use that as a basis to build my wardrobe on.

I expect it depends on your colouring and warm seasons might be less affected by fake tan than cool. OP personally I found it hard to guess my season and was told autumn a long time ago but winter (albeit close to autumn) when I had it properly done. But then I have quite neutral colouring (mid brown hair, fair skin, greenish eyes) I might have convinced myself was any season tbh. I would get it done without your tan but take some photos and ask the consultant. You might not feel the need with the right colours.

I did my own assessment and I think I am an autumn. I did lots of research:

Cool/warm toned - I always knew I was warm toned, so this knocked out half of the seasons. This is about whether you suit gold or silver, peach or pink.

Kettlewell colours - they have a quiz on the website which will determine your colours.

Observations - I did an online search for celebs who had a similar colouring and looked at what suited them and what colours they tended to wear. I also looked at people in the street and tried to work out their seasons.

Also think about what colours you are drawn to as people will be often drawn to colours which suit them anyway.

What I haven't done is worked out what what 'type' of autumn I am. That's a level of detail that I'm not that bothered with and am happy to work within a broad range of colours.
