Stylish travel bags/suitcases

Hi all,

I travel a lot for work and my lovely company have just changed the expenses policy to allow for us to purchase luggage as part of our working requirements.

I need something that is suitable for 3 night's packing, toiletries and laptop. Preferably on wheels as I don't want to lug a heavy bag on my shoulder- and I'd like it to be stylish! I have £200 budget.

Does anyone have any ideas please?
TIA

I'm not sure if I have this one or the next size up but I HIGHLY recommend it (if you think it's stylish - that part is subjective)! I've used it about 3 times in the cabin so far. I'm going to buy the same one in a larger size as well for my next long haul.

That's a nice budget.

Bombardier25966 · 20/08/2018 11:26

It depends on what you class as stylish!

I'd also go for Samsonite, but prefer a soft sided bag. I've the older version of this and it is still perfect ten years on.

(It's over your budget but well worth topping up the amount for).

I have the larger suitcase and the cabin bag in this but in Merlot.

Thank you Nigella

That's the sort of thing- sturdy, in bold/primary colours that won't break easily!

UKtwo It is- I travel about 40/50% of my working week for my role, and it was a really nice recognition of the work my team do- and a few of us have had personal suitcases etc break whilst travelling- hence the recognition and generous budget

Bombardier Thank you- do you find the soft versions waterproof? I mean, 'caught in a downpour in Scotland' waterproof? Grin

Bombardier And by stylish, I meant something that isn't this Grin

Hollowtalk That's also nice. How long have you had yours? Do you think they really last 10 years? I've never had one that has, but then I've never spent more than £50 on a case!

I have this: www.samsonite.co.uk/spark-sng-spinner-55cm-length-35cm--petrol-blue/87551-1686.html?cgid=SAMS080#prefn1=customProductMaterialGroup&prefn2=customProductModel&prefv1=Softside&prefv2=Spinner+(4+wheels)&start=5&cgid=SAMS080
I wouldn't take it swimming but regular rain has not been an issue. Definitely go for a 4 wheeled (spinner) model instead of 2 wheeled one.

feesh · 20/08/2018 21:12

I personally would stay away from Samsonite - their quality is nothing like what it used to be. Have a look at Bric or Tumi

HollowTalk · 20/08/2018 21:17

I've only had my cases for a year and I've done two long haul return flights and then about three or four just with the cabin bag. They're in perfect condition still and look beautiful.

NigellasGuest · 21/08/2018 07:26

Mine also in perfect condition- I would also vouch for the quality. @feesh have you noticed that in a few cases by samsonite or perhaps you bought one faulty one? Interested

MadreTranquillitatis · 28/08/2018 10:06

@KatharinaRosalie why are spinners better than two wheelers? They seem slightly smaller to me and I'm a bit worried that the wheels are easier to break (Admittedly I have absolutely no idea, so far I've only had two wheelers but noticed that they hardly make them anymore)

KatharinaRosalie · 28/08/2018 10:41

Because spinners are a lot easier to move and manoeuvre. the 2wheeler you can only drag around behind you. Spinner you can push next to you or in front and whichever side first - way more convenient in crowded train stations and airports

MadreTranquillitatis · 28/08/2018 11:05

Ah, that's a good point! Thanks Smile

Tumi are amazing but expensive. DH and I both have cabin size cases bought from their outlet at Bicester Village, mine was £120 18 months ago. DH has had his 8 years and it still looks as good as new.
