Tips for broken skin

Hoping for some advice, Thursday night I came out in horrendous hives on my legs, neck and stomach. I put this down to stress.

I've still got some red patchy itchy areas and am taking regular piraton. Due to scratching I've got some little scabs on elbow and around neck and upper arms.

I'm a bridesmaid next week, so any tips for sorting my skin out quickly, as it's worrying me that I'm going to look horrendous.

1% hydrocortisone OTC. Use twice a day until they go dry rather than itchy then slather with a rich moisturiser/aqueous cream as often as possible.

I agree with the hydrocortisone but disagree with aqueous cream - complete waste of time. What works for my DS when his ezcema is bad and he's scratched himself raw is loads and loads of emollient. He uses epaderm, although there are many more out there, doublebase gel is another good ine, just depends what suits your skin. It needs to be applied regularly and thickly, be prepared for greasy clothes and bedsheets! Also dermol 600 in the bath is good.

Try calamine in aqueous cream, just ask for it in the chemists. The aqueous moisturises while the calamine soothes and itching. It worked brilliantly when my kids had chicken pox, and none of them were left with any scarring.

Thanks all, I've just had an oatmeal bath which has massively helped and slathered on a tonne of Aveeno and I feel loads better.

Just need to sort out all the scabby bits!
