Yes I know I'm getting ahead of myself slightly Grin but I'm nothing if not prepared. I usually wear Uniqlo Heat Tech long sleeved vests but they all need replacing this year so I was wondering which brand other people wear. They need to be thin so they can go under dresses and l/s tee shirts.

Where do you buy your thermal long sleeved vests?

Tesco's do some good ones, and m&s, there's are a bit softer on the inside if that makes sense Wink

Decathlon merino long underwear is the best value for money. They are soft, thin, hardwearing. Machine-washable on a delicate/woollens cycle, but don't need washing every use. I wash mine once or twice a month if I don't get the chance to air them in sunshine. Also you don't overheat in wool when coming indoors.

Uniqlo and M+S are my go-tos.I've tried merino - haven't tried decathlon - but I've never found one that wasn't itchy.

Aldi and Lidl often sell them in the Skiwear' category, me and DH both like them, warm soft and comfortable.

Icebreaker are the best imo but they are £££. Helly Hansen and Odlo are other good brands but I also have some much cheaper bits from both Decathlon and Mountain Warehouse and it washes and wears ok. I bought a couple of Uniqlo Heattech tops and found that they made me sweat quite a lot but that could just be me!

Last winter we were in the Arctic in temperatures of -35. DH and I were kitted out in Aldi merino long sleeved vests and thermal leggings. They were brilliant, and so cosy. Normally wool makes me really itch but these didn't at all, and they were very comfortable bearing in mind we we wearing them from the moment we got up until bedtime. They wash well too. Iirc, they did two sorts, one pure merino, the other a mix, we had the pure merino.

Icebreaker Merino are amazing. Very very warm but wicking so you don’t sweat.

John Lewis do good quality (non Merino) long sleeved t-shirts.

My Uniqlo went horrible in the wash - I was wearing thermals daily for work and they just didn’t last.

For serious cold, I was wearing Icebreakers (top and leggings), jeans, a cashmere jumper and a Rab jacket and felt no pain.
