Help me with my hair!

So my current hair care routine isn’t great. In fact, it’s truly horrible and I’m fed up with it! I brush and wash it once a week as that’s all I have time for (I have very quick showers daily to wash my body, I’m not that gross 😂)

My hair is super long so when it is brushed and washed it looks dull and flat because it’s so heavy, so I put it up in a bun. I have a 4 month old who now likes to grab hair so I don’t like it down now anyway.
It takes about an hour to brush each week as it’s so matted and I end up ripping so much hair out every time.

I could maybe wash my hair once during the week too but it’s not really ideal, I have such little time for things like this and when I do I’m usually exhausted and don’t want to do anything but relax

Any tips on how to maintain my hair better that are super quick and easy would be great

I'm going to guess that your hair is nsturallt dry and stressed from being up in the bun all the time. Brush it on the morning run some hair oil through it and brush that in before you put it up. Before you go to bed at night take the bun out and brush oil and brush it again and sleep with it loose. Your shampoo and conditioner might not be good for your hair. Shop Around until you find products that leave it softer and it will tangle less.

I only have to wait until next week until I can afford it so it’s not too bad lol

Thanks for the advice about the oil, I will try using some but my hair does get greasy quickly (another reason I leave it in a bun all the time) but I think with a shorter length it will be quicker to brush and wash, plus I’m going to wake up earlier to have time to brush and wash it regularly :)

You have pretty much described my situation but your hair sounds longer than mine (bra strap length). I also only wash mine once a week. Brushing my hair everyday instead of once a week helped to stop the tangles developing into massive clumps that needed to be torn out. Also a wet brush to use when conditioning it and to brush through after washing it. My hair needs a treatment every time I wash it. Normal conditioner doesnt touch the sides. Kerastase architexture something or other (bluey green tub) works really well on my hair. I used to loathe hair wash day (still slightly do) but these things make it more bearable.

If it's once a week your brushing that's the reasons for tangles and matts. I'd try a leave in conditioner rather than oil, Oil can weigh it down and look greasy quickly.

Glad to hear you feel better this time - I wasn’t judging just wanted to double check.

Don’t worry about the washing (people wash their hair too much) if your hair is used to once a week it’ll be fine.

I find tangle teasers rubbish! Can’t get them through my or dds hair. I find a good wide paddle brush cuts right through. Start at the ends and work up.

A tangle spray you can spray all over. With oils etc start at the ends and avoid the roots.

Can you French plait? That’d keep it in check!
