Recommend me a shampoo/conditioner

My hair is a mess!

It’s in reasonable condition, not coloured, shoulder length, I rarely use products on it or blow dry it. It’s natually wavy and prone to being a bit frizzy, particularly in rain/drizzly weather.

I can’t find a shampoo/conditioner to suit. The frizz ease ones seem to increase the frizz Confused. Normal ones seem to leave a really greasy patch on the top of my head. Is there anything I can do/use to improve the frizz?!

Help!!

Can you ask your hairdresser? I use L’Anza , which I love, but I’m not sure it helps with Frizz. Hopefully someone will come along with a useful answer! Smile

ghosting · 15/08/2018 20:46

I get my hair cut about once a year, so don’t really have a regular one I could ask!

I have dry, frizzy, curly heir. Can’t help on shampoo, but this leave in spray conditioner is excellent.

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2018 20:54

“Hair” obviously.
The dc both have poker straight hair Grin

Paul Mitchell super skinny range is great on my frizzy hair. Pretty expensive though but lasts ages.

ghosting · 15/08/2018 21:01

Thanks BikeRunSki - also not extortionately expensive! What shampoo do you use?

Thanks Noboozeforme I’ve not heard of that but will look it up!

I use treseme. The blue one. Since I changed from Aussie/Pantene I have found I no longer need conditioner. The shampoo itself is amazing.

ThePricklySheep · 15/08/2018 21:02

I get on best with the sulphate free and really gentle types. I find my hair’s less greasy but also less ‘stripped’.

I’ve tried most of the cheaper ones here, www.gentlebubbles.com/buy-phthalate-free-products/sulfate-paraben-phthalate-free-shampoo/
Jason, Avalon and Aubrey organics are all really lovely. They foam less, just to warn you. I also use globs of Vitapoint leave in conditioner for any dry bits or frizz.

Oh, that’s very interesting! I’ve used treseme but not the blue one. And I never thought to try not using conditioner. A few years ago I tried using conditioner first and then shampoo, which seemed to be ok for a while.

It seems like things work for a while, and then stop working. Can that happen?!

Thanks ThePricklySheep

Maybe I need to try more out.

I have strong, coarse, frizzy hair. I’ve just stopped using frizz ease as it had started to make my hair feel horrible and really dry. I’ve bought tresemme botanicals shampoo and conditioner today (on offer in Boots), haven’t tried it yet but hopeful.

ThePricklySheep · 15/08/2018 21:09

Oh and I quite like hair oil too, the Aldi one is as good as the more expensive ones.

ghosting · 15/08/2018 21:13

Oh and I quite like hair oil too

Forgive my ignorance - what do you do with hair oil? When do you use it? Instead of shampoo/conditioner or as well as?

Yes that’s what happens to mine. Can you feed back after trialling the treseme??

Will definitely feed back. Oh and I style my hair with Lee Stafford argon oil.

Verbena87 · 15/08/2018 21:21

Ok, long frizzy wavy (wayward!) hair here too. I use either the faith in nature lavender stuff (hair still frizzy but smells gorgeous at least!), or recently Simple kind to hair gentle care shampoo and conditioner, which are the best I’ve tried in ages.

I also avoid heat, and only wash/brush it as needed rather than just routinely (ie we get on better when we leave each other alone!)

ParkheadParadise · 15/08/2018 21:37

I change my shampoo every month.
I like
John Frieda
Lee Stafford
Brazilian Keratin Smooth
JOICO K-PAK (bought in salon)

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2018 22:03

ghosting I don't wash my hair very often (it is much nicer a bit dirty), but when I do I tend to use whatever strawberry/medicated/funky bottle shaped shampoo I have in for the DC. A few years ago DM got her herbalist friend to make me up some shalom that would be perfect for my hair. It wasn't, but DM lives in that sort of a town. I live in hope that the Body Shop will bring back the original banana shampoo and conditioner of the 1980s formulation.

mrs2468 · 15/08/2018 22:29

Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner bit expensive but if you buy the salon sizes the last for months. Thick frizzy curly hair and it's the best thing I've found

KateAlexander · 15/08/2018 22:36

Liz Earle Botanical Shine. There’s a few types of conditioner for different hair types and just one shampoo. It’s worth every penny, transformed my hair!
The conditioner is rich - only put it on the ends.
It’s pricey but lasts for ages. It’s got no nasties in but the shampoo still lathers really well - I hate the non lathering ones.
