Face creams for beginners!

Hi all, I have never used a face cream and have now decided that it's time I need one. Have just bought Rivatlift something or other with anti wrinkle stuff - it was on special offer - and have used it for the past couple of days and hate it. My skin feels sticky all day as if the cream is just sitting on my skin. I used hardly any at all so it's definitely not down to putting too much on. Can anyone recommend a fairly cheap face cream that will help with prevention of wrinkles? Or are serums better? Don't want to spend too much in case they don't work for me, but I need to find something. My skin is normal type I guess, slightly greasy around nose maybe and slightly dry on forehead? Been very lucky not to have suffered from spots or anything so reluctant to use anything but am getting old now and need to do something as I can see creases appearing on my forehead!

The only thing proven to help with wrinkles is retinol. The french pharmacy brands (la roche posay, avene etc) are a good starting point if that's in budget as they do a variety of textures for different skin types - they're often on offer in Boots or online. Vitamin C is also a good ingredient to look for and will brighten the face. It doesn't matter if you use a serum or a thicker cream - the ingredients are what will make a difference. Spf is also important. Again la roche posay is good. The Ordinary make really cheap, effective products, though some have gone off the company recently due to some strange behaviour from the owner. I think it's still unbeatable on price though.

Any moisturizer will protect your skin from dryness and so help with keeping wrinkles at bay.
As you're very new to moisturizing I would try Simple lotion. It's very light weight and should "sink in"!
Another lightweight is Olay lotion, in the bottle, it's about £5 .

I also really rate Olay for budget buy, I love their BB cream too and Superdrug often has good deals on their range, a good tip is to make sure you're day cream has an SPF minimum 15
