Smooth legs

user1465146157 · 14/08/2018 05:30

How do you get smooth legs?
Not just hair free but bump free sheeny legs - the kind in magazines that look (and probably are) airbrushed.

I've seen women in real life with smooth polished legs and wonder where the ingrown hairs / shaving nicks / bumps are?

Is there a treatment I just don't know about?

Dump the razor and use wax or hair removal creams. And exfoliate regularly- exfoliating gloves are great and you can get them really cheap

Epilator Smile

RedPill · 14/08/2018 07:13

Wow littledinosaur you must have a crazy high pain threshold. I used an epilator once and couldn't even manage half my leg!

DottyBlue2 · 14/08/2018 07:16

How do you hide the blue veins though?

hugoagogo · 14/08/2018 07:22

I think a lot of it is genetic, yes you can take good care of them, but if you have veins or like me large pores they will never look 'airbrushed'.
Meh!

RedPill · 14/08/2018 07:23

Tinted moisturiser may help to hid any veins and discolouration

Pinkvici22 · 14/08/2018 07:26

Exfoliate regularly (1-2x pw - I use Soap and Glory stuff and Korean Italy towel once a week), use the Gillette Venus razor with the moisturising block on it (every other day), moisturise daily, use body oil every other day and Sally Hansen leg make up very lightly applied with a tanning mitt.

I get told a lot that my legs always look smooth and shiny! It’s just the rest of me that needs work!!!

Gwenhwyfar · 14/08/2018 07:26

I just accept that my legs aren't nice. Tights!

littledinosaurs · 14/08/2018 07:28

@RedPill I have one that you can use in the bath. It helps to relax. But also.... the more you do it the easier it gets. And it lasts almost 2 weeks for me - I couldn't be doing with shaving every day.

Luck of the (genetic) draw to a large degree. I have now just about made my peace with this 😉

BusterGonad · 14/08/2018 13:45

I use a keg make up with a slight shimmer. Like a fake tan that washes off. Rimmel do one.

GeorgeTheHippo · 14/08/2018 16:41

I think you either have them or you don't. But exfoliation and fake tan (a light one) might help a bit.

Cakemonger · 14/08/2018 17:01

Agree it's genetic. Have given up expecting my legs to look perfect, despite exfoliation/hair removal/fake tan etc. It's not like I'll be lying on my death bed thinking 'if only I'd had smoother legs'

flyingsaucersherbet · 14/08/2018 18:32

Second the sally Hanson leg make up. It’s magic stuff!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 14/08/2018 18:34

Body brushing! Completely transformed my whole body.

LuluBellaBlue · 14/08/2018 18:48

Genetics must play a part as I do nothing but shave and moisturise and mine are super tanned and smooth.
Thanks OP as I’ve finally found something to be grateful for as there’s plenty I’m not!
As people have said above, I’d try exfoliating and fake tanning then adding a tan / glow oil?

Maria1982 · 14/08/2018 23:54

I second epilator + exfoliate + moisturise

If I do all that and don’t pick at ingrowns I have lovely smooth legs. Sadly I’m often too lazy too exfoliate enough!

PS yes epilator total torture the first time but gets progressively less painful, and only needs doing once a fortnight /a week depending how smooth you want to be.
Try doing it just after your period (never just before!) as a starting point.

YupThatsMe · 15/08/2018 00:08

Maybe it is genetics. I only shave and moisturise and they're smooth and shiny. This isn't a boast though, they're also scar-ridden!

LeeValley2 · 15/08/2018 00:10

Put antiperspirant on your legs after shaving to prevent shaving rash.

VetOnCall · 15/08/2018 00:25

Agree that it's mostly genetic, I just shave them every other day, slap on some St Tropez in-shower tan twice a week and moisturise when I remember but my legs always look and feel smooth and 'shiny'. My Mum is the same. A bit of colour definitely helps and I also really like this Garnier body oil spray, it smells good and gives a nice subtle sheen to your skin: www.boots.com/garnier-ultimate-beauty-oil-skin-perfector-150ml-10148841
