Overplucked eyebrows - what do you do? :(

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:06

Any other MNers who went through a period of plucking the shit out of their brows, leaving them terrible, uneven and sparse? :(
If so, what do you do about them? Currently I pencil them in and do a reasonable job of it, but tbh, especially in this hot weather, I've hated having to worry they'll smudge, etc.
Has anyone had them microbladed? I would definitely invest in something long term but I'm scared of the results being awful.

I did the same and had microblading done and the results were amazing!

scramblesontoast · 13/08/2018 17:09

I know this isn't really what you were asking, but a good tip for making sure your brow product doesn't move all day is hairspray! I always spray my finger with hairspray and then pat it on my eyebrows. I know it sounds crazy but it does a cracking job!

Also interested in reading people's experiences with microblading! :)

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:10

Awesome hairspray tip, I love it!!
Sweet would you mind if I ask you how much your microblading cost? (Feel free to PM!) I would love to not have to faff on every morning.

Microblading is brilliant. I too went a bit overboard in the 90s and ended up with pencil thin brows. I get microblading done and although it hurts it looks super natural and completely changes how they look

CarolineForbes · 13/08/2018 17:19

I have been using the Anastasia dip brow and it’s pretty hard to budge!
However I got them microbladed yesterday and I’m really pleased! It didn’t hurt as she put numbing cream on.

I’m glad I finally took the plunge but I would recommend spending a lot of time scrutinising previous work before you pick someone.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any :)

Jupiter9 · 13/08/2018 17:20

Micro blading can go wrong. Good luck

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:21

Very kind, thanks for the replies. Just googled a place near me with decent reviews and it give £250 as the price - seems very reasonable?
Of course, I'll scout round before making any decisions.

I did the same thing back in my teens! Really thin straight eyebrows. I took the plunge and had them tattooed (not microbladed) and it was the best thing I've ever done 🙌🏼

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:21

Thanks Jupiter, I've seen many many pictures of awful microblading, which is why if I did choose it, I'd want to pick someone reliable.

But but thin brows are the next big thing. 🙂Those thick painted-look brows are going to be passé soon.

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 13/08/2018 17:40

I agree thick grows will be no more in five years.
Saw an advert with models with no brows and they looked amazing. Really fresh. My friend has absolutely perfect thin natural lines. They look great too.

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:46

What's in doesn't really bother me - I just know with my features I suit fuller brows better. Obviously I'm not looking for glaring black slugs, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Sweetsongbird1 · 13/08/2018 17:51

No. Think brows are not ever coming back in Grin

op it depends on cost as you may need a few treatments due to your skin pigment. If you are fair they use fair dye so you don’t have massive black eyebrows also some people’s skin pushes the pigment out so it needs to be redone.

It doesn’t last for ever I get about 18 months out of mine as I’m fair. But honestly it’s the best thing i ever did!

My friend actually trains people to microblade and has an academy so I can DM you her Instagram or facebook as I’m sure you could ask her how to choose a good microbladest!

AnduinsGirl · 13/08/2018 17:52

That would be extremely kind, Sweet, thank you!

I think they look so cool and so refined too.

I'm in the same boat OP and considering Microblading. However I'm going to try good old fashioned castor oil first as I've read great things about it! I'm going to use it every night for a few months and then get a shape and tint and if there's no real improvement I'll put microblading on my Xmas list Smile

StellaHeyStella · 13/08/2018 18:15

Yup, mine were scraggy and overplucked and I would be constantly pencilling them in with mixed results.
I took the plunge and had them microbladed and now I absolutely love them, I actually get complemented on my brows now and most of the time people really believe they are natural.
It's not permanent though but it's certainly a treatment that's definitely worth continuing with.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/08/2018 18:18

There’s some stuff called Rapidbrow which a lot of people swear by for thickening overplucked, sparse eyebrows. It’s a growth serum not a makeup product. I saw Lisa Eldridge recommend it, In fact she said she had to stop using it because her brows had got too unruly.

I’ve bought some recently myself, am going to give it a go on my thinning brows and see if it helps.

3littlemonkeys82 · 13/08/2018 18:23

I don’t think thin brows will make a come back. This is interesting viewing www.elle.com/beauty/makeup-skin-care/g29821/what-todays-celebs-90s-brows/?slide=26

SpeckledyHen · 13/08/2018 18:56

I used Rapidbrow after seeing Lisa Eldridge’s report .Its brilliant stuff - my gappy brows are almost full after using it for 8 weeks .

afreshnewname · 13/08/2018 19:06

I loved the effect of micro blading but 8 months later mine have faded completely, I use brow revolution now and I love it, it's liquid rather than using a pencil and waterproof

FledglingAlien · 13/08/2018 19:27

But if you overpluck, surely they just grow back?Confused mine do, they grow like billyho, couple of weeks and back to normal, Grin

Jupiter9 · 13/08/2018 22:25

£250 buys alot of eyebrow liner. Good luck.

Jupiter9 · 13/08/2018 22:29

There are some nice eyebrow wigs these days, quite discreet.
