bras...

I get so confused.

Mine ride up my back and almost sit at the bck of my neck.. does that mean too big or too small? also, if the middle bit doesn't sit flush against your breastbone, is that too big or too small?

and...... are they repairable when the wire comes out?

Toss them when the wire comes out. It sounds like your bras are too small. Have you tried easing the straps?

SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 03/06/2007 13:49

yes, I've tried that but I have been generously gifted in the nork dept and they just go droopy and sit on my lap if the straps are too loose, lol (not quite, but you know what I mean)

Have you been to get measured?

SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 03/06/2007 13:53

no, never been measured cos I'm so huge I'd be too embarassed, starting to think it might be necessary tho

if they ride up the back, then the back is far far far too big.
so if youre wear ing a 38d, then you shouold go down to a 36dd, or 34e. the back strap needs to sit straight accross theback, same level as your breasts.
read up the size guide on figleaves.com, or get yourself measured proply from debenhams etc.

Nbg · 03/06/2007 13:56

Oh dont be embarrased.
Every woman needs a good fitting bra.

Get yourself down to Marks and Spencers or House Of Fraser.

You dont have to strip right off either if thats what you were thinking.

cylonbabe · 03/06/2007 13:56

the bigger you are , the more necessary to be measured properly.

teafortwoandtwofortea · 03/06/2007 14:00

You should get measured now and then in the future whenever you find a bra riding up up you lose/gain weight/change shape for any other reason.

If I can do it so can you!

Isn't there a top notch place somewhere in London you can go just for the first time - can't remeber what it's called - hopefully some of these southerners can tell you

tigerschick · 03/06/2007 14:03

Do you mean Rigby and Pellar? They do the Queen's knickers, don't ya know!?

People often get a back size that is too big and a cup size that is too small. DOn't be measured by someone with a tape measure. Be fitted somewhere decent (another vote for Bravissimo) and you will probably be amazed at how different your size is, and how much better you look .

SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 04/06/2007 18:39

hmm.. there's a rigby and peller not too far from me, maybe I'll go and investigate when I've got the guts then, thanks everyone

Rigby & Peller are supposed to be the bees' knees, when it comes to measuring (although apparently they're so good at it, they just need to look at you, and they know what's going to fit). Definitely go - it makes a huge difference wearing a well fitting bra - complete revelation to me, after going into Bravissimo thinking I was a 42DD and coming out a 40FF. I now have norks to be proud of.

sophy · 04/06/2007 19:21

Go to Rigby and Peller, they are the business. Got my wedding bra there, it fits better than any bra I've had before or since and I am still wearing it seven years later.

USAUKMum · 04/06/2007 19:56

Get thee to Rigby & Pellar as soon as possible. Yes, they do just look at you and suddenly you have a well fitted bra, look 10lbs slimmer and you get a waist. I'm a 36G / 34GG (depending on cut of bra) so not a small either

SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 04/06/2007 20:39

I'm just scared they wont have anything to fit me and then I'll be embarassed and feel even worse than I do now

I've got a selection of bras from 42c right up to 48d and none of them are right - it's just so frustrating isnt it?

OP posts:
Piffle · 04/06/2007 20:40

you are suffering what I was
you need a smaller back size and larger cup I suspect.
I was I thought a 36F
I am now sat in a 32GG and it'samazing the difference

luciemule · 04/06/2007 20:42

M & S have even stopped measuring people as they too think that being properly fitted is more important than what measurement you are.

JackieNo · 04/06/2007 20:42

They go up to much bigger than your size, believe me. Does this help?

bamamama · 04/06/2007 21:52

Just to agree with everyone really.. I was properly fitted for the 1st time last weekend and it was a case of back size was smaller and cup size bigger - from a 36DD to a 32E. It is really amazing the difference and frankly, if you've been through childbirth the prospect of whipping your top off in M&S (in the changing rooms, obviously) is really no biggie. Do it - it'll be fine...

SuGaRCoAteDPoiSOn · 04/06/2007 21:56

ooh thank you gonna go have a lookie

OP posts:
USAUKMum · 05/06/2007 08:23

they have your size, as you are probably a 40 or 38..... give it a go....my only recommendation, is to go earlier in the day rather than later if you are going to walk in.
