DH needs some new bits but I’d like to get him some good basics to mix and match with- smart casual as work clothes sorted.

Uniqlo have good, simple basics.

My dp started a capsule wardrobe. We got most his things from next. Great for place for basics such as shirts, tops and jumpers. And I find the suits are good quality

Redpill - DH is a bit of a Next fan too! Can I ask what yours bought - ie how many jeans/trousers/tops etc?

I've been working on this for OH, as he''d been wearing the same tatty clothes for years. He NEVER buys himself clothes.

So far I've got him:
a pair of DM brogues
a pair of Levis
3 t-shirts from Diesel - black, white and grey
2 M&S rugby shirts (probably deeply unfashionable, but he really likes them)
A couple of casual shirts - one from Boden and the other from a charity shop but think it was Next
Couple of pairs of shorts from M&S
Casual shoes from TK Maxx - the brand is Quicksilver
A pair of chinos from M&S

1 pair of black jeans
1 pair denim jeans
5 black shirts
2 black jumpers
1 button down shirt black
1 button down shirt white
1 black suit
1 navy blue suit
1 grey suit jacket

And then a few colourful shirts and shorts for holidays etc

No great advice but am v interested in this thread. H is like Remus OH, never buys clothes and wears the same tatty things. And if he does buy himself something, it's always usually hideous not to my liking. While I'm reluctant to start buying him clothes - I never have up to now - I am sick to the teeth of it. I'll have to start.

So, no, not placemarking at all.

Does anybody have any recommendations for good quality men's t-shirts? Dp used to really like the Duffer St George ones from Debenhams, and they last forever, but they don't seem to exist anymore

championquartz · 13/08/2018 20:53

I recently bought H a couple of emergency t-shirts in H&M and they weren’t half bad. Heavy weight cotton. They’ve washed well too. But that’s the only shopping I’ve done for him for a long time so it’s a random recommendation. Shopping for him is so hard

Thanks all for the suggestions and ideas. Now to get DH to part with his tatty old stuff and go shopping!!
