Well as the title suggest I want o dye my hair but I'm ginger.. what kind of colours would look nice? Is balayage or ombré something that would work with my hair? I've recently lost a lot of weight and want to treat myself.

I've tried to dye my hair before at a salon but I was there for 6 hours and only managed to get a few high lights as the blonde just would not take at all :/

I tried to edit the photo to take away my face but frankly that's weird so I'll just name change after this. I've added a photo of what my hair looks like now :) it's a bit lighter than it looks in the photo.

I really like the colour on the second picture - Why don’t you grow your fringe? Even if you wore it to the side that would totally change your look.

Your hair is beautiful, I would love ginger hair!
However, if you really want to dye it, go to the hairdressers. I've known ginger friends hair go funny colours with home dying. One friend tried to dye it that blue/black that was popular in the early 00s and it went a very peculiar purple blue colour.

And yes, I think ombre would be lovely with your hair.

Shapelyglass · 10/08/2018 01:27

Oh no! I'd never do it myself! Christ that would be a mess! I am going to do it at the hair dressers I just didn't want to turn up and be like 'make my hair pretty' 😂

Both photos are of my natural hair, it gets lighter in the summer or more ginger. I do like it just want to have a bit of a change :)

dont be ridiculous it will cost a fortune and not be successful, you know that really. Your hair is a beautiful colour leave it alone. How about a change of style, grow out the fringe and perhaps soften the sides and shorten it a little. Treat yourself by going to an aspirational hair salon with great up to date stylists.

It looks auburn to me not ginger st all. I have the same colour hair and have a t section highlights put through and looks strawberry blond but that's mainly to camouflage the white coming through.

Your hair is s pretty colour x

There are people who'd die to dye their hair to get the colour you have now! I think you should proudly keep your ginger hair as it is.

Wincarnis · 10/08/2018 05:13

Ombre would be nice, and easy to deal with as it grows out.

IwankaTramp · 10/08/2018 09:25

Hair colour is beautiful so why bother? The fringe however would look better grown out.

MayFayner · 10/08/2018 14:26

Your hair is beautiful OP!

IsadoraQuagmire · 10/08/2018 14:42

Your hair is really pretty now, I like the fringe too. But if you're going to dye it, I think ombre/balayage would be the best as you don't have to maintain it in the way you would with a total colour change (and it would be a shame to completely cover up such a gorgeous natural colour anyway)
A lighter red ombre would look good. If you look on Pinterest you should find lots of ideas (or Google images)

Alienspaceship · 10/08/2018 14:48

I absolutely love the colour in the second picture - stunning. (But I understand that you fancy a change so I’m not helpful, sorry Grin)

Shapelyglass · 10/08/2018 15:25

Wow thanks! Maybe I'll leave it!

I don't have ginger hair but definite auburn undertones. I can have highlights with no problem at all - with red hair as long as you have ash blonde tones rather than warm
Blonde it will be fine. Definitely advocate getting it done in a salon by a professional though. I tend to get 3 colours woven in in foils for a more natural look.
I do agree your natural colour is lovely though.
