I first met my lovely hairdresser when I changed salons six years ago. She is a great hairdresser, with lots of enthusiasm and energy for her job, and I really enjoyed the buzz of the new salon. Last year, the owners began to book too many appointments for the staff to cope with and one by one they left. My hairdresser set up on her own and has a back wash and everything she needs in one room of her house. She is still a great hairdresser and her prices are really good. She only takes one client at a time. My daughter enjoys going to her too as she loves to chat and she comes out really happy with lovely hair. BUT, I don’t like it.
For two or more hours she chats away and gets on with the job, but with no other clients to see to, I have to chat too and I am really starting to miss the ‘me time’ that a salon offers between colour on and off. That 45 mins of quiet time, half listening to others in the salon, and also catching up with news in magazines. I come away from my hairdresser with lovely hair but tired out with chit chat, and slightly impatient that it has taken longer than it would in a salon. On my last appointment I booked a few future appointments but would really like to go somewhere else. My daughter loves it. What would you do, and how would you tell her?
