Skin tags

With my first pregnancy (eight years ago) I erupted in skin tags under my armpits and under my boobs. They’ve irritated me ever since; they are unsightly and they get caught on clothes/razors, and my dc say things like “Urgh, what’s that thing stuck to you?” Hmm

A week ago I knocked one off and it has been SO bloody painful I think I might have to go to the doctor to get antibiotics or something, because it looks swollen and possibly infected.

Anyway I’ve had enough. Has anyone successfully got rid of them using the plasters you can buy in chemists (the reviews don’t fill me with optimism) or through laser treatment? Or an other way?

I have loads.

My ds had an awful wart on his wrist. I tried over the counter cauterising stuff and it was painful and made it bigger.

I then used thuja oil on it and it worked. I read it’s good for skin tacks too. Must give it a go on my numerous ones.

I cut mine off with some surgical scissors I got off amazon. Wiped tears scissors and skin with surgical spirit first. It might be a bit difficult to do yourself if they’re under your armpits though 🤔

Ha, not ‘wiped tears’, wipes the. There were no tears it only hurt a tiny bit for a second

Yes great success from skin tag removal kit from amazon.

Yes bit too tricky a location for snipping. And I wouldn’t trust clumsy Dh.

Which kit, ThroughThick?

I think you can also suffocate them by covering them in Vaseline for a week, then they drop off, or so I hear

Yep same as above 'tagbands' from Amazon. Ingenious and effective piece of plastic!

CMOTDibbler · 06/08/2018 22:42

I have loads and loads of them. Once they get a stem you can tie them off with dental floss really easily, though I usually snip them off with small, sharp, sterile scissors.

If anyone has recommendations for dealing with them before they get a stem I'd appreciate it

Wow, tagbands get great reviews. Thanks for that suggestion! Right I’m going to give them a go. Your time has come, horrid skin tags! Die!
