I spotted that one SueW, but it was only in size 8 yesterday, and apparently no sizes today. I think the problem may be that red and black are kind of christmassy/wintry colours, and unless you're looking at actual bridesmaids' dresses (which are too expensive) most of the high street dresses are meant for summer, and are in pastelly colours atm.

Dolly Dagger were featured on This Morning this week so have probably had a surge in demand, especially with it being prom time.

I love those dresses/whole 50s thing but can't imagine ever looking good in it!

bubblerock · 02/06/2007 11:42

These are simple and a good price no size 8 but at that price it could be altered - the brooch comes off too. You can also get £10 off using code ZQ0099 at the checkout (I used it last week for my dog car guard

OOh - well spotted bubblerock.

Would you be putting straps on the 10yr old? Not sure I'd be happy with my 10yr old in a strapless cocktail dress.

shes not 10 shes 13 (will be 14 at time of wedding) that was a typo, well prt typo and part me still thinking my lil sis is tiny when shes actully quite grown up! lol

but shes actully is really slim and only wears age 8-9 clothes!

Kittylette

What we did was give the money to each of the bridesmaids and say "get a deep red dress"

It worked and didn't work at same time:

Problems. NOn of the dresses were actually the right colour - and one was bright red

Good points: They were still clearly bridesmaides, and each bought a dress that suited them.

BUT DON'T DO IT IF YOU WANT THEM TO COORDINATE, as that bit just didn't work

kittylette · 02/06/2007 20:39

I lOVE the dollydagger ones, but once you buy the dress, you also have to buy petticoat, belt * flower and it end up at £125 per dress

Im now thinking long black evening dresses jazzed up by myself with red acessories - because my sis doesnt want to show her legs, which is fair enough!

how about this one??

see what I would do is to choose dresses that indivdually flattered each bridesmaid. for example, it would be WRONG of me to go strapless, honestly. and it would make me grumpy.

and then make sure that they were all pretty much the same colour. So you could tell them to all buy black, you can't go far wrong there. And then co-ordinate the accessories.

SueW · 03/06/2007 10:43

Just be careful of some of the ebay ones. I bought an evening gown off ebay recently and was really disappointed. I only paid about £20 but it was a £20, iyswim.

I'd been measured properly and it was too big but worse than that, it was a black dress and all the overlocking had been done in WHITE! It looked like someone who didn't know what they were doing had made it.

I got a full refund but it was a very disappointing experience. Also watch out for lace up backs which some buyers really don't like if you read the feedback carefully.

kittylette · 03/06/2007 19:35

Hi suew

ive had a look at the feedback and theres not really many (in fact none) complaints of poor quality dresses, most say 'better than expected'
