Is there an epilator out there that actually works?

Ok so i purchased an epilator and firstly ouch, but I can deal with that but secondly it only seems to pull a few hairs. I was expecting it to pull most of the hairs along a 1-2cm strip not about 4 hairs per strip. So can anyone recommend one that actually works?

I have a braun one which works. I have been using one for years though and a lot of hairs now do not come through anymore. Some will be in different growth cycles but some may have given up. When you first start (from memory) there will be a lot of hairs and you do have to go over the area several times to get the hairs. You need to go against the hair growth and make sure none are stuck to the skin.

I second Braun and find I need to go over each area in lots of directions I.e. up, down, diagonal (both ways) and sideways to be completely hair free or by moving the epilator in a circular way. I find them great for doing a quick going over and could never see myself going back to other methods now.

You’re probably moving it across the skin too fast. Do not move it at the speed of an electric razor, try at least five times slower.

I don’t think I’m going too fast because I’ve tried faster and slower. Perhaps it’s not a good brand? I’ve never used an electric shaver just regular razor or wax. I do keep trying it but i then end up having to shave all the missed ones afterwards because after repeatedly going over my legs to try and get more hairs somewhat unsuccessfully at that my legs end up bright red and swollen and in some spots bleeding. May keep an eye open for a braun one of special offer instead of this one. It’s a pilot? Not convinced it’s a well known brand.

I had a Phillips one that lasted nearly 20 years. I bought a cordless Braun one bit didn't find it much good. Bought another Phillips and it's not as good as the previous one I had (it's also more lightweight) but it's pretty good and not expensive.

It might be worth putting some talc on before epilating? I do this as I think it helps the epilator pick up the hair and it's definitely less painful too.

I have a braun silk epil 5 which seems to work although sometimes I need to go over an area several times.

I have a Braun Silk Epil which is great (but bloody painful!). I do get a lot of ingrown hair from it though.

My first epilator (20 years ago) was a Phillips. When that died I replaced it with a Braun combi epilator / razor. I never felt it was efficient enough (pulling enough hairs at a time), so bought another Phillips epilator instead. Which is still going strong a decade later

Braun here too - first was battery but used to die part way through second leg and couldn't use it charging.

When it died completely I got corded Braun. Better because I can use it til it's hot longer as I find going very slowly in lots of directions helps

It never feels completely smooth to the touch though but you can't see stubble. If it's a rare legs out special occasion I shave that day too

The pain does disappear after a few goes - but NEVER go back to full growth because it hurts just as much as the first time

Another one with a Braun here. You’ve just reminded me to do my legs OP, thanks.
