Translucent pressed powder for taking shine off

Many years ago, I bought a little compact pressed powder called “T Zone controller” by 17 from Boots and it was brilliant for mattifying the T zone.
Sadly, I don’t think they make it anymore and I need to replace it badly!

Does anyone know of a colourless pressed powder type product that will do the same job? I don’t wear much make up at all but when I do, I need something that will take the shine off my face.

Thanks in advance.

The Rimmel one is suppose to be great (I personally don't use it but it's an award winner, I think).

Essence do one

No 7 Airbrush Away powder is lovely. It takes off the shine but doesn't leave you looking flat

Thanks for suggestions. I will have a look when I’m next in Boots.

I'm a big fan of MAC's Blot Powder compact, light coverage but great at soaking up the oil!

AKingdomForACarrotstick · 03/08/2018 13:28

I'm a big fan of the Essence one, works well and cheap as chips, too!

xsquared · 03/08/2018 13:31

Thanks. Keep them coming...

The Rimmel one is fab, admittedly I'm a product snob and always thought Rimmel would be crap, but it's really not Smile

Second the recommendation for the No 7 one - matte without being too matte.

If you're a bit shiny as of late make sure you're not using 'stripping skincare' (SLS foaming cleansers, products with high alcohol content) as they will make you produce more oil @xsquared

Urban Decay 'De-Slick'? DD has it, but I haven't tried. I use Soap and Glory Heck of a Blot, but that's more like a traditional pressed powder.

i really like the rimmel translucent one, used it for a year or so now. its lovely, doesnt oxidise and is very good even rivals clinique powders which i've now stopped using.

NYX Banana powder is my go to. It’s the only one that doesn’t sit in my pores and make me look like a crone. Especially good with a coat of their setting spray over the top.

I use Laura Mercier , is fab x

NameChangeUni · 03/08/2018 23:15

Laura Mercier’s is the absolute best. I have used it since 2015 and have tried others since, but none compare to this one! It’s perfect in colour and how your fabulous the skin looks after - it’s not dry or cakey and doesn’t change the colour of your foundation. I have literally wasted money on trying other brands and products, but I keep repurchasing this one as it is so reliable

Worieddd · 03/08/2018 23:20

Laura merciers translucent powder is pretty good

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 03/08/2018 23:36

The body shop used to do blotting papers called papier poudre or something, they were oil blotters but had a layer of powder in one side I loved them but can't seem to get them now, blotting papers just seem to be paper with no powder.

I might look into Laura mercier

xsquared · 04/08/2018 00:55

Thank you all. It looks like it may be between Laura Mercier and Essence. Going shopping tomorrow to try out the suggestions. Thank you!

I don't know if they do a translucent powder but I would suggest makeup revolution in Superdrug, it's really cheap but good quality makeup.

PeppaP · 04/08/2018 01:00

I love the Barry M one and it’s cruelty free too 🐰

Ingalia · 04/08/2018 01:08

Terribly old fashioned but I swear by MaxFactor Creme Puff in the Translucent shade. It really is invisible coverage (I think!)

LoveInTokyo · 04/08/2018 09:13

I would try the Rimmel one before you splash out on something high end. I've used it for years.
