I wouldn't agree that it's too dressy at all, christenings are formal occasions!

It's beautiful and I don't think too dressy at all. I've been a bit horrified by how casual some people seem to dress for christenings at the last few I've been to. I think it's just a little less formal than a wedding! However, my family will dress up at any opportunity so I may be slightly biased.
