Holiday swimwear

I’m thinking of buying a tanking for a holiday in Greece. I’ve not worn one before and my friends tell me they can be impossible to get off when wet. Anyone had this problem?

Question should say tankini

They annoy the hell out of me! Too hot, and yes can be difficult to get off when wet.

I'm just back from 2 weeks in Spain and honestly you'll see all shapes and sizes and the vast majority in bikinis and not giving a toss!

I brought too many different swimwear options and in the end I lived in the same bikini that I had 2 bottoms to match. It was a good quality strapless (well the strap part was removable) boned bikini top which was really flattering and stayed in place. I hated the tankini and even worse was the tummy control swimsuit! Gorgeous on but an absolute nightmare to get back on when you've gone to the bathroom! Plus it was just too hot to wear it all day.

My advise is to find a bikini that you're comfortable in and enjoy your holiday!

Bikinis are by far the easiest to change out of poolside and the most comfortable.

I did buy a tankini but soon regretted it. Back in our hotel room after a swim I needed DH to peel the top off for me. Stupidly I once tried to get the top off when he wasn’t with me. As I struggled I heard the door open. Panic!

I went to Greece, took 2 tummy control swimsuits and a tankini that I bought at the last minute in Sainsburys. The swimsuits were a nightmare - struggled to get them on/off in the heat, and felt like a straitjacket when they were on.

So, I lived in the tankini. It was light and comfortable, and I just rinsed it out every night and hung it on the line on our balcony. I have to say I didn't have any problems getting it on or off, even after swimming. I loved it so much I went into Sainsburys when I got back and bought another, and also a bikini in their sale. Echoing macnab there were loads of women round the pool in bikinis in all shapes and sizes not giving a damn (which is fabulous IMO) which is why I've got one for next year.

Thanks for this idea. I’m off to Sainsbury’s to see if they still have a tankini like that. I certainly can’t go through the same experience as last time. Didn’t mind relying on DH to get me out of the top - that was quite fun!😍😍😊 But I still have nightmares about the door opening when I was stuck and blind.😯
