Cant face another’s night out with such painful feet

WeeMadArthur · 30/07/2018 20:50

I know its inevitable that a night out in high heels will result in a certain amount of discomfort but, despite scouring the shops for relatively comfortable shoes, another night out has ended up with me feeling that it would be less painful to just cut my toes off.

I’m looking for non pointy, slightly wider than normal width shoes with a reasonable heel (no more than 3 inches), preferably closed toe and black leather (hoping it would have more give than manmade fabric). If I could guarantee not to wince in pain when wearing them I would gladly spend up to £80.

Sounds quite reasonable, but isn’t something I have been able to find myself.

This is one of the top reasons I just don't go out anymore

WipsGlitter · 30/07/2018 20:55

I just wear flats now. I have a pair of mid heel Clark's boots I wear in winter.

ScreamingValenta · 30/07/2018 20:56

Have you looked at Clarks or M&S foot glove - both do a wider fitting and plenty of classic styles. I also have wide feet and sympathise. Leather is definitely better than synthetics.

Strax · 30/07/2018 20:57

Just don't do it. Ditch the heels! When you stop to think about it, it's absolutely ridiculous to wear a pair of shoes which are going to cause so much pain. Honestly, just give them up, it's liberating to go out and know you'll be able to walk anywhere and not be in pain by half way through the night!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2018 20:57

I fully intend to wear trainers next time I go out dancing.

donkeysandzebras · 30/07/2018 20:57

New look have a range of wider fit shoes. They won't be leather and some of them can be ridiculously high but they change their stock frequently so it is worth monitoring their website.
Next also do wide fit shoes.

SilverHairedCat · 30/07/2018 20:59

Evans. Great for wide fit.

DorothyGarrod · 30/07/2018 20:59

I stopped wearing heels years ago, it is very liberating.

OhTheRoses · 30/07/2018 20:59

Try shoes from a dance shop.

TheMotherofBears · 30/07/2018 21:00

You couldn't pay me enough money to wear heels!

aperolspritzplease · 30/07/2018 21:03

Always wear flats, I'll never wear heels again. Rogue Matilda has awesome brogues and palmairas go with anything at this time of year.

ScreamingValenta · 30/07/2018 21:06

Another tip if you're wearing shoes for the first time is to take a biggish bag out with you, and put in a pair of emergency flats.

BlueAir · 30/07/2018 21:12

Simply.co.uk do wide fit shoes - they have the nicest ones ime.

thedevilinablackdress · 30/07/2018 21:27

Flats! Heels are not worth it.
Clarks have many nice ones.

herecomesthsun · 30/07/2018 21:59

Chie Mihara?

plusonefail · 31/07/2018 06:52

The most comfortable heels I own come from New Look, would you believe? They have a lot of choice in their wide fit section. Worth a look and a try on - I usually feel like I’m walking on glass in heels but these are comfortable and have been worn all day and night at weddings.

LellyMcKelly · 31/07/2018 06:59

Heels are ridiculous things. They’re usually uncomfortable, put you at greater risk of injury and effectively hobble you. And for what? So we look a bit taller? Appear more attractive to men? Can you imagine men choosing to wear such uncomfortable, impractical, footwear? Not in a million years. I gave them up about 5 years ago and would never consider wearing them again. They look ridiculous to me now.

MidLifeCrisis2017 · 31/07/2018 07:03

Another vote for New Look!!

iusedtobecool · 31/07/2018 07:07

Clark’s do a style called Kendra. They are court shoes though, so not sure if they’re what you’re looking for. They have a slight platform and a chunky block heel. I read about them on here and tried on a pair. Found them very comfy for heels!

ScreamingValenta · 31/07/2018 07:53

For some reason, I have never got on with New Look shoes. I can never see them without thinking 'Your feet look gorgeous ... but they hurt like hell Sad'

EleanorLavish · 31/07/2018 08:08

Wedges and chunkier heeled boots! I love the height but just can’t wear sky scrapers anymore.
I love these.

Ratonastick · 31/07/2018 08:10

Try Gabor. They’re a bit spendy, but I can walk around all day in their wedges.

WeeMadArthur · 31/07/2018 11:05

Thanks everyone, sounds like I have a few places to check out. Flats are the most sensible option but as I have rather sturdy ankles my vanity prevents me from wearing flats with anything that doesn’t cover them up!

You could try wide fit loafers with a 1 or 1.5 inch heel?

Also consider wearing an inner sole for extra padding for the balls and heels of your feet as well as arch support - you can get fabric ones from poundshop type places.

MeanTangerine · 31/07/2018 12:25

Try Clarks outlet site as well - quite a few wide fit styles end up there.
